It's here, but is your phone ready? | Image by PhoneArena
When will I get Android 17? This is what a large chunk of those almost 4 billion Android users across the world are asking themselves, given that their device supports the operating system's next version.
Currently, Android 17 is rolled out officially only for Google Pixel phones, with more devices coming soon.
Want to know if your phone will get it? If your device is not too old, for example – if it was released in 2024, 2025 or 2026, you're pretty much guaranteed to get it.
We're sharing a big list of popular eligible devices for you to check and rest assured you'll be taking advantage of Google's new best OS features.
But first, what's Android 17 about?
New features and quirks for Pixels
Pixels, as Google's own smartphones, continue to receive several exclusive features.
Lyria 3 lets users create original music from text prompts or images, while Gemini Omni can turn text descriptions into custom video clips for Gemini Pro subscribers. Google is also bringing Voice Translate to the mid-range Pixel 10a, allowing live calls to be translated in each person's own voice. Manual Call Screen is expanding to India, and Take a Message is reaching more countries with support for custom greetings and live transcripts.

Quick Share with AirDrop compatibility is now available on the Pixel 9a and Pixel 8a, while Magic Cue is adding support for more messaging apps on the Pixel 10 lineup. Google is also introducing conversational photo editing to Pixel 6 and newer devices in five European countries, allowing users to edit images by simply speaking to their phones.

We're expecting Bubbles – this feature lets users turn apps into floating windows, while Pixel foldables can keep them organized in a Bubble Bar for quick switching. Screen Reactions allows users to record themselves with the front camera while capturing their screen, making it easier to react to videos or websites.
Android 17 also adds stronger privacy features, including temporary location sharing, the ability to share only selected contacts and a more secure "Mark as lost" option in Find Hub.
Google has also tightened PIN protection, improved threat detection, expanded parental controls, added a separate assistant volume setting and introduced app memory limits to help boost performance and battery life.
Phones that will enjoy Android 17
As mentioned above, Pixels are the first to get Android 17, but the list goes on with Samsung, OnePlus, Motorola and much more to follow soon.
