Leaker Evan Blass has shared marketing images for the Pixel 11 Pro XL. Last week, Blass released similar images of the base Pixel 11 model. The Pixel 11 Pro XL unit featured in the leaked Google marketing material is shown in a color called Dune. This looks like a peachish-orange shade with gold highlights.

Despite a slightly lower-capacity battery, the Pixel 11 Pro XL could have improved battery life

Rumored specs include a 6.8-inch OLED panel with a resolution of 1344 x 2992. Under the hood will be the Tensor G6 application processor (AP). While we do expect to see a small decline in battery capacity from 5,200mAh to 5,115mAh, the Tensor G6 will be produced using TSMC's 2nm process node, which should make the chip more energy-efficient.

In addition, the Gate-All-Around (GAA) transistor architecture used by TSMC on its 2nm chips reduces current leakage and improves the drive current. The latter allows a transistor to switch its state from "Off" to "On" and vice versa faster, reducing the amount of energy required to process the same computational workload by 15%–30%.

The result is that the Pixel 11 Pro XL should deliver improved battery life despite the smaller battery capacity. Of course, this is "in theory," and I can't recall previous process node improvements that enhanced battery life so much that I could notice it. Also expected to reduce power consumption is the MediaTek M90 5G modem chip, replacing the oft-criticized Samsung Exynos modem chips that caused so many headaches for Pixel users in the past.

The Pixel 11 Pro XL is rumored to be available in storage options of 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB. The 256GB variant is expected to feature 12GB of RAM, while the 512GB and 1TB versions should be equipped with 16GB of memory.

Rumored rear-camera specs for the Pixel 11 Pro XL

The triple camera array on the rear of the phone will include a 50MP main camera, a 48MP ultra-wide camera, and a 48MP periscope telephoto camera offering 5x optical zoom. Reportedly, the Pixel 11 Pro XL will feature 10x "optical-quality" zoom through "sensor cropping," and up to 120x Pro Zoom (Super Res Zoom) using AI-powered processing. The front-facing camera should weigh in at 42MP.

Pixel 11 Pro XL pricing should look like this

Pricing for the Pixel 11 Pro XL should start at $1,299 for the 12GB RAM/256GB model. The 16GB RAM/512GB and 16GB RAM/1TB variants are expected to be priced at $1,419 and $1,649, respectively.

The Pixel 11 Pro XL looks very much like last year's phone, and this could leave many potential Pixel purchasers on the sidelines. Then you have the owners of Pixel 6 series handsets who are losing Google support in October. I've been thinking of upgrading my Pixel 6 Pro for the Pixel 11 Pro XL. However, if Google doesn't make it worthwhile to upgrade this year, I might decide to hold on to the Pixel 6 Pro for one more year since I already have my iPhone 15 Pro Max connected to my cellular account.

It would appear that the big upgrade to the model this year is the Pixel Glow. The feature emits a subtle glow around the back when there is a notification or an incoming call. Each different activity will result in a different Pixel Glow color. The idea is to alert the Pixel user about what is going on with their phone even if it is placed screen-down on a table or desk.

The Pixel 11 series will be unveiled by Google on August 12 during the "Made By Google" event. The festivities kick off at 6 PM EDT/3 PM PDT.
