What we know so far:

Motorola is expected to launch the Razr Ultra (2026) by the end of April. Outside the U.S., it would most likely be called the Motorola Razr 70 Ultra. This will be the second generation in the Razr Ultra series from Motorola, building on top of the foundation laid by the Motorola Razr Ultra (2025).

Early leaks, supply-chain listings, and multiple tipster reports point to Motorola continuing its three-model Razr strategy in 2026, with a base Razr, a Razr Plus, and the top-tier Ultra model once again leading the lineup.

The Razr Ultra 2026 is expected to build on the foundations that the Motorola Razr Ultra (2025) already laid. The OG model already had good battery life, fast charging speeds, and a large, helpful cover display.

As most second generations are, the Razr Ultra 2026 most likely won't introduce any major changes. Instead, the leaks are pointing to a more polished version of last year's model, with some tweaks to make it an even better flip phone. These tweaks include a small adjustment to the design and aspect ratio, a new flagship-class Snapdragon processor, and some improvements to the phone's durability and hinge design.

Motorola is expected to announce the Razr Ultra 2026 in spring 2026, most likely in April, considering when the original Razr Ultra was announced.

As for availability, the Razr Ultra 2026 is expected to go on sale shortly after its announcement. We expect a late April or early May 2026 release, depending on the region.

If Motorola sticks to this timeline, the Razr Ultra 2026 will once again arrive well ahead of Samsung’s late-summer Galaxy Z Flip refresh, giving Motorola a head start in the premium flip phone segment.

There is still no information about the price of the Motorola Razr Ultra 2026 at this stage. For now, we expect it to cost the same as its predecessor, starting at $1,299 for the 512 GB model and going to $1,499 for the 1 TB model.

For context, the Motorola Razr Ultra (2025) was the most expensive flip phone on the market when it came out, which slightly undercut its appeal despite all the great things it had going for it.

Given that Motorola is expected to keep the Ultra as its most high-end flip phone, it's safe to assume that there won't be any price drops. If anything, there is a possibility of a price hike due to rising component costs.

Motorola.com: Motorola typically offers launch-period incentives such as trade-in bonuses, instant discounts, or storage upgrades. These deals often appear within the first few weeks after release and can significantly lower the price.
Carriers: Major carriers have historically offered aggressive promotions on Razr models, including bill credits with trade-ins or discounts tied to premium plans. Similar offers should also be present for the Ultra, especially as carriers look to push foldables as flagship alternatives.
Retailers: Retailers like Amazon and Best Buy have previously bundled Razr phones with gift cards or temporary price cuts. While not guaranteed at launch, these deals usually appear within the first couple of months.

The Razr Ultra (2025) already stood out among flip phones by offering two high-resolution rear cameras and a strong image sensor for the selfie camera. There are no leaks pointing to any new camera hardware with the Razr Ultra 2026, so we can expect similar image quality from the new model.

One way Motorola can stand out from Samsung is if it adds a third, telephoto camera, but there are no such rumors yet.

Some rumors suggest Motorola could adjust the size of the Razr Ultra in 2026, potentially making it slightly wider and thinner.

For fans of Motorola's alternative materials, the good news is that they are expected to make a return, including vegan leather, wood, and possibly an Alcantara-style finish. We will almost certainly see new Pantone colors, with Cloud Dancer already tipped as a strong candidate following Motorola’s recent collaborations.

Button placement, the side-mounted fingerprint scanner, and the large cover display are all expected to remain as they were on the 2025 model.

Motorola’s displays are expected to remain among the best in the foldable space, with 120 Hz refresh rates and excellent brightness. Refinements to the hinge design should also improve the display's durability and make the crease even less visible.

Battery capacity is expected to remain around 4,700 mAh, which is already class-leading for a flip phone. Combined with a more efficient Snapdragon chipset, it is safe to assume that the battery life will either remain just as good or even get slightly better.

Charging is likely to stay at 68 W wired and 30 W wireless, comfortably outperforming Samsung’s flip phones. Of course, a charger in the box remains unlikely, so you should plan for a compatible USB-C fast charger capable of at least 65 W if you want to make use of the full charging capabilities on the Razr Ultra 2026.

Motorola Razr Ultra 2026 features and software

The Razr Ultra 2026 is expected to ship with Android 16 and Motorola’s lightweight custom interface. Signature Moto features like Chop to Flashlight and Twist to Camera will probably still be available, alongside an expanded set of Motorola's AI tools.

Software support is expected to include at least three major Android updates and four years of security patches, which is not bad but still behind Samsung's seven-year update cycle.

Should I wait for the Motorola Razr Ultra 2026?

You should wait for the Motorola Razr Ultra 2026 if you want the most complete flip phone experience, value long battery life, fast charging, and a truly usable cover display, and are coming from an older flip or regular slab phone.

You should not wait for the Motorola Razr Ultra 2026 if you already own the Razr Ultra (2025) or if price is your main concern. While we still don't know a lot about the upgrades, they will most likely be incremental compared to the last generation and may not justify paying $1300 for a new one so soon.
