More sources tip $800+ Galaxy S8 price, colors may include Black, Gold, and Orchid Gray
When a leakster tweeted that the Galaxy S8 will start at $849, we collectively gasped, but since it wasn't clear at the time if that's for the smaller or the eventual larger model, it kind of flew over our heads. Then this past Friday came a posting from an Ukrainian e-tailer database that allegedly tips the prices and colors of the Galaxy S8 and S8+, and those translated to $950 and $1050 after currency conversion, as you can see in the table screenshot below.

That's a Benjamin up from what the previous tipster said, but let's keep in mind that prices vary widely from one country to the next, plus the guy already edited then deleted the tweet, so take these preliminary pricing schemes with a grain of salt, as usual. The third S8 pricing tip comes courtesy of a Chinese leakster account, and they claim that the Galaxy S8 will start at 6088 RMB, which is about $885. That's the price they got from sources in China, of course, so it may be valid for the local market only, and yet there is clearly a trend.

That trend is consistently punching the eventual Galaxy S8 starting price north of $800, so buckle up, edge-to-edge screen lovers, this baby with the rumored 83% screen-to-body ratio may cost ya. On the other hand, numerous reports peg the starting price of the OLED iPhone 8 version at $1000, and even LG is reportedly not worried that the G6 will be more expensive than the G5, since "Apple and Samsung will also charge more," so the "all-screen" trend of 2017 won't come cheap.

The reason for the eventual flagship price increases this year? Well, those flexible OLED displays, dual cameras and other shenanigans are apparently raising the bill of materials for our beloved brands, and they will lovingly pass the increases onto us.

"stock Android sucks even more" You can literally make a stock Android device look like a TouchJizz Galaxy device with skins/Nova Launcher/icon packs easily without rooting, minus the jank and lag touchWiz is known for(Galaxy S7/Note 7 perform slower then a Nexus 6 with Snapdragon 805, 3 year old device) SMH, the logic behind this. stock Android is what Android should be on all devices, up to date with security and updates and the best performance without something like TouchWiz and Samsungs pretty poor optimization making devices a lot slower then they should run compared to other devices with the same SoC inside Fandroids always spout about customizability when it comes to Android, it's a big part of Android

stock Android is boring. The latest Grace UX is arguably the best UI today

I agree with the stock Android being boring thing. But at the end of the day, it's the apps we install that make our experience "fun," not the UI

The worse performance then a 3 year old Nexus 6 is even worse though, Note 7/S7 are still years behind in performance vs other devices when it comes to touch latency/scrolling performance without jank/etc

Speed test dont prove anything because each oem dows it differently. No one launches apps back to back to back like that. I

https://www.xda-developers.com/with-the-note-7-samsung-still-delivers-embarrassing-real-world-performance/ It is pretty s**t, S7/Note 7 has more lag/jank/worse touch latency then a 3 year old Nexus 6 running on a 32 bit Snapdragon 805. I didn't buy a flagship smartphone in 2016 just to have performance like a 2014 smartphone lol.. on the real though let's hope Samsung has done some big work on optimization this time around with the S8 and beyond.

They say iPhone is expensive... ROFL At least the base price of the iPhone is $650, and you still maintain a great resale value.

PhoneArena does these currency conversions every year, and they are rarely even accurate. All I'm saying is, we will know when the phone comes out. I don't see what the point is in stressing it now. I'm mostly annoyed I likely won't be able to pick one up until summer.

Exactly my point. In INDIA, iPhone 7 plus costs a north of $1100 for 32GB & $1400 for 256GB, so does it mean iPhone costs the same in US as well? a bigg No. It costs around $750 to $950 in US. PA always does this conversion stuff & negative marketing for Samsung & Sony :( If that is the case PA iPhone 8 will cost a north of $1500 in India please make an article out of it stating iPhone 8 will cost $1500+. Will yah??

The Galaxy an IPhone have simikar resale value. But you have a better change of having an undamaged Galaxy to sell vs an iPhone.

"The Galaxy an IPhone have simikar resale value." No they don't. I can get an S7 for 350$ off of Swappa. An iPhone 6S Plus is north of 400$ on most occasions. Techie, it's time you stopped lying to yourself m8. "But you have a better change of having an undamaged Galaxy to sell vs an iPhone." A glass bodied phone is tougher than an Aluminum one? Yeah no. This is getting really pathetic dude.

"No they don't. I can get an S7 for 350$ off of Swappa. An iPhone 6S Plus is north of 400$ on most occasions." You’re should compare with a 6s not a 6s plus Or compare a s7 edge with a 6s plus Not saying a iphone still won't sale for a little more, just saying that comparison is not fair.

Well, i'm not crazy to give that much money for a device that i will use one year... I would rather buy OnePlus or something similar for half of it's price and use rest for a week of vacation.... Fuc* if wee all, instead of buying this overprised toys, would buy something for half of it price, and rest of money would give to the needed, we would do much nice things i to the world. Just imagine that there will be over 100 000 000 of those overprised devices sold (S8, iP8, G6, P10) and if we would take just 200$ from every each device, and instead buy something less expensive, companies would stil geon profits, and we could really change the world by giving that money to the pore.

If you only using it pne year, then tou arwnt payong full price. What are you complaining about? Even if you pay cash, you can still sell ot a year later for more than 50$ retail if you keep it in good shae. I love the lease plans because in 12 months i have paid 50% and swap to latest model. I can own 2 phones in 24 months for the price of one. You complaining about nothing.
