T-Mobile got a head start over rivals by starting out with pure 5G or 5G Standalone (5G SA), largely skipping mmWave in favor of mid-band and low-band spectrum. T-Mobile is pushing the envelope on upload speeds by leveraging the uplink transmit switching (UL Tx Switching) standard. It makes better use of a phone's hardware to maximize carrier aggregation for faster uploads.
