The Redditor (a woman with the username chimchambam) even explained how she managed to break their iPhone Duo so quickly after she received it. "Just went to open it, felt resistance for a second, and then a pop," she wrote.
The company was always afraid that something like this would happen
She added that her Duo made a sound like glass snapping at the moment the device stopped working. She also pointed out that she opened the phone like a normal person without using any extra force.

Another Reddit subscriber, one who goes by the username TeekaElSayed, might have had too rosy an outlook when he typed, "Apple will immediately replace it (the defective Duo part) for you. The Genius Bar in Apple Stores has plenty of inventory for these sorts of defects that may pop up.
Apple refuses to cover the issue with the warranty claiming that the phone was dropped and damaged
As it turned out, the tech giant refused to cover the repair because its investigation revealed that the phone had to have been dropped. Apple's suggestion is that the device owner buy insurance that will retroactively cover her iPhone Duo, and file a claim.

The device in question is a 512GB iPhone Duo, priced at $2,199. The device owner did call what happened "a huge let down," but did say that for the three hours that she got to use it before it broke, the iPhone Duo was so cool. There's a mixed endorsement if there ever was one.
For some Duo owners, it's an expensive and disappointing launch day
Overall, a disappointing launch day for the first foldable iPhone. Next up, we will have to see whether Apple has a serious display problem on its hands.
