If you guys have been following my Pixel-related stories, then you might be aware that I use the Pixel 10 as my daily driver. Although I don't have any major issues with the device, I have been thinking for the last few months of upgrading it to its upcoming successor.
The entire specifications of the Pixel 11 lineup have surfaced online, and it's making me believe that sticking to my current smartphone is the best decision. In fact, if the leaked details pan out to be true, then I'm afraid that the base Pixel 11 might turn out to be the most disappointing flagship phone of this year.
No major update whatsoever
My colleague Anam recently shared all the specifications of the upcoming Pixel 11. The base variant is reportedly going to weigh 197 grams, which is 7 grams less than its predecessor. You're expected to see changes in the memory department as well, as the device is reported to start from 256 GB instead of 128 GB.
For the first time, Google could also offer 512 GB storage in its base model, and there could also be a 16 GB RAM variant, according to the surfaced details. The latest Tensor G6 SoC is going to power the device. And that's the end of all the positives; now let's talk about the things I didn't like.

First of all, the phone is said to see a price jump of $100 and would start from $899. Battery capacity might see a jump but only by 15 mAh, which would give you, what, one extra minute of runtime if you set aside the performance boost you could get from the new processor and software optimization.
There's one major downgrade

Google gave a major boost to the camera department of the vanilla Pixel 10 by launching it with a dedicated 10.8-megapixel 5x telephoto lens. In fact, we found it to be one of the biggest positives of the smartphone over the Pixel 9 in our testing. However, if the current leaks are true, then Google will be removing the telephoto camera from the Pixel 11.
But it's worth noting that the render that surfaced a while ago actually has a triple-camera setup at the back. So, I would highly suggest taking this camera-related information with a grain of salt. But if true, it will definitely be a major downgrade, especially for camera enthusiasts who love to capture high-quality images of distant objects without losing detail.

Pixel 11 is shaping up to be Google's most disappointing flagship
Unless you find Pixel Glow exciting, the upcoming Pixel 11 isn't reportedly getting any important hardware upgrades, unlike the Pixel 10 that received proper Qi2 charging, a dedicated telephoto lens, and more. In fact, compared to the flagship phones that are about to launch this year, Google's smartphone looks the least exciting. For instance, the upcoming OnePlus 16 is rumored to see a major upgrade over the OnePlus 15 in almost all crucial departments, which include battery, processor, and camera.
The already released Galaxy S26 has also received some noticeable upgrades, which include a bigger battery, a slightly larger screen, and a faster processor. Similar is expected to be the case with the base iPhone 18 as well. While the device is most likely to be released next year, early rumors suggest that it could see a jump in important areas, which include the selfie camera, RAM, and chipset.
The Pixel 11 Pro and Pixel 11 Pro XL are reported to get new sensors for their primary and telephoto lenses, while the base model, on the other hand, could actually see a camera downgrade. The face unlock mechanism is expected to get better, but whether it, along with other reported upgrades, which only include a new chipset, a 15 mAh bigger battery, and 6 g less weight, would be enough to justify a price increase for the base Pixel 11? I don't think so, and that's why I have a strong feeling that the phone might not sell like hotcakes as its predecessor did.
Let's not forget the colors
If you consider the cosmetic angle also as an upgrade, then the Pixel 11 would be available in two new color options: Fuchsia and Moss. Other than this, the device is expected to launch in two other shades, which include Light Sterling, which is similar to Frost, and Midnight Haze, which resembles Obsidian very closely.
That said, the entire lineup would launch on August 12, 2026. Let's hope that Google surprises us all by revealing something exciting on that date that hasn't been leaked yet.
