Viture's Phantom Beast glasses, the $599 Phantom Blade Zero edition of its $549 Beast XR glasses, launched on October 29 alongside the game with a $29 cable that connects straight to a PS5. The glasses can be plugged in via USB-C to a smartphone like the iPhone 18 Pro Max or Galaxy S26 Ultra.
Arrived as promised alongside Phantom Blade Zero
We covered the reveal on August 27, the same day preorders opened at $599. At the time, the Phantom Beast was sold only at viture.com and the IGN Store, promising an October 29 ship date.

This date happens to be the same day the Phantom Blade Zero game came out. The game is available on PS5 and PC, and the glasses are still at the $599 price point.

A cable that replaces the PS5 dock makes it a sweeter deal
Since the official reveal back in August, Viture has launched a $29 HDMI to USB-C adapter cable that enables players to plug the glasses straight into a PS5, Xbox Series X/S or a Windows PC with HDMI. Prior to that, PS5 players needed to purchase the Pro Mobile Dock, which cost an additional list price of $129.
According to Viture's Phantom Beast page, the dock can be bypassed now with a direct connection via this cable, which can also be used with every Viture glasses model and not just the Phantom Beast. The cable itself is currently on backorder and ships in about two weeks.

You may be wondering why a cable (or a dock) would be needed at all. Well, XR glasses support video over USB-C, so phones and laptops would plug right in. On PS5 and Xbox, though, this can only be accomplished via HDMI.
The Viture cable is Y-shaped, meaning that the HDMI end carries picture and sound while the USB-A end goes into the console to power the glasses. The third USB-C end connects to the glasses.

It should be noted that the cable does not charge the console, so where it fits in nicely is in at-home setups. The dock does have a battery, so it can go with you if you like to game while traveling.
Rivals like Xreal's One series also need an HDMI-to-USB-C adapter for PlayStation and Xbox.
What you need if you have a PS5
If I'd just bought Phantom Blade Zero on PS5, the PS5 was my only console, and I also wanted the glasses, the $29 cable should be enough, even with the current backorder. However, if a Switch 2 was also part of the equation as a play-on-the-go solution, getting the dock makes the most sense since the cable doesn't support it.
My hope is that in future editions, the cable doesn't end up being an add-on and is actually part of the unboxing experience.
