Windows Phone device with Snapdragon 805 and 2K display pops up under the name of Qualcomm LiQUID

The all-telling GFXBenchmark database has spat out this little gem you see above, indicating that a Windows device with Snapdragon 805 and Adreno 420 GPU might be in testing, under the codename Qualcomm LiQUID.

Just as Windows Phone 8 brought support for 1080p displays, the next 8.1 version, that is likely to be announced today at Microsoft's BUILD conference, could bring support for Quad HD (1440x2560 pixels) screens. Granted, what we see above is quite a "cropped" section of that, at 1422x800 pixels, but the device title hints that this is actually a Qualcomm reference board that marries Windows Phone with the upcoming Snapdragon 805 chipset for testing purposes, which typically also includes scaling at different resolutions.

Stay tuned for our boots on the BUILD conference ground, where all will be revealed in just a few hours from now. The nice thing about the new Snapdragon 801 and 805 processors, is that they offer a very significant boost in image processing speeds. This would resolve the saving speed issue with Nokia's huge Lumia 1020 PureView camera sensor, and its slow shot-to-shot times, so that we can have our 41 MP mobile camera cake, and eat it, too.
