Windows Phone 8.1 icon sets pulled from emulator
Icon sets pulled from the Windows Phone 8.1 emulator reveal some of the functions that Cortana will be able to handle. For those unaware, Cortana is expected to be the platform's virtual voice activated personal assistant, similar to Siri on iOS and Google Now on Android. Based on the icons, Cortana will be able to give out information like directions, while warning you about traffic and construction. Cortana can also take notes, pass along stock prices, set alarms and appointments, control features like Wi-Fi and activate the Do Not Disturb mode.

Action Center shows icons for quick settings and includes the ones you would expect to see on such a panel. These include icons for brightness, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and there is even one for Caps Lock.

Other icon sets have been pulled for the Start screen, Maps, Wallet and Camera applications. Microsoft appears to be pulling out all of the stops with this update, hoping that it will enable Windows Phone to better challenge iOS and Android. Check out all of the icons that have been revealed by viewing the slideshow below.

No, it actually is improving faster than any other OS on the market... Since MS is essentially playing catch up they have to add more features per update than other OS's... Just in 2013 alone Lumia devices had no less than 6 updates with around 30 features, and fixes, on board... Have you seen the list of new features coming to WP8.1?
.........................
Being the fastest OS to improve has nothing to do with having more, or less, features, and doesn't mean that a OS is better or worse... It just means that that particular OS is currently adding more features, and improvements, during a specific time...
.......................
It's just so funny how hatters like you are so quick to put WP down, and not give credit where credit is due, that your insecurities get in the way of reality, and logical thinking... You just disagree just to disagree which is really immature..

Okay, this is more like it, Microsoft!
These look FAR better than current ones.
And if 8.1 indeed brings a theme support and wallpapers like some rumors suggest, then I'll have no gripes left against WP.

About time!

I am a fan of good OS-s.
Whichever that OS is.
Same goes with hardware..I'll always be a fan of the best hardware, no matter the brand.
Android is now a very, very good OS and it meets my needs just fine.
But that doesn't mean I don't want WP to be great.
I want it to be the best it can.
And If Microsoft finally makes a decent effort with WP, then I won't be irritated by you guys cheerleading over it.
Because the praises would be in place

The WP icon set pulled from the emulator so that Apple, Google, and Samsung can emulate them.

Sad it doesn't support to turn on 3G-4G in the action center :( just like the iPhone .... Very sad i hope Microsoft will implement it in the final build!

How did extracting the icon sets lead to Cortana's features?

action center? is that the one where you could swipe from the top of the screen?

Exactly.. One swipe down for volume controls, and two quick swipes down for the action center, AKA notification center..
Besides notifications, you can also access quick settings, like WiFi, and Bluetooth, there as well...
