Android O confirmed for release "in late summer"

Breaking news from Google I/O. Dave Burke, Vice President of Android's engineering department just confirmed an official release ETA for Android O. Apparently the new version of Android will exit its beta stage "in late summer", merely two months after Google released an early look developer preview for the software.

Android O is set to bring some exciting features, like Picture-In-Picture mode, notification dots, optimizations for performance/battery life, superior Autofill mode, and more.

So, which devices will receive Android O first? The Pixel and Pixel XL are the chief suspects, but Nexus 5XNexus 6PNexus Player, and the Pixel C tablet could also get it either on launch day or shortly after.

Stay tuned for a complete coverage of Android O and all of its new features...

Release for pixel phone only. Samsung might get it in summer 2018.

I got so happy with they talked about Android Go, but then reality struck. We're not gonna see an Android Go phone for at least 2 years, considering the fact that most budget phones right now run Android 6, which is two years old.

Unless Google makes an Android Go phone, its far away.

A really boring IO, good upgrades to Android but mostly a waste of time.
