FCC certifies a new entry-level Samsung phone

While Samsung has found gold with its mid-range Galaxy A line, the company is adding an ever lower-priced version to the series. The FCC has certified (via a tweet from XDA's Max Weinbach) a device that will be called the Samsung Galaxy A10e. The only information found on the FCC documentation is the e-label that reveals the model number of the phone (SM-A102U) and the name of the handset. The smartphone has also received Bluetooth and Wi-Fi certification.

The phone recently was spotted on the Geekbench benchmark test site, which revealed that the device will be powered by the Exynos 7884 chipset and features 2GB of memory. Android 9 Pie is pre-installed. Samsung first used the "e" suffix on the Galaxy S10e, the entry-level version phone in the Galaxy S10 lineup. That means that the Galaxy A10e will be the entry-level handset in the Galaxy A range and as such, it should have specs that are not as capable as those on the Galaxy A10.

However, the specs listed on Geekbench for the A10e are exactly the same specs found on the Galaxy A10, which means that the former could sport a smaller display or a smaller battery. The latter is equipped with a 6.2-inch LCD display with a 720 x 1520 HD+ resolution. A single 13MP camera adorns the back of the phone and features an aperture of f/1.9. In front, you will find a 5MP selfie snapper. The phone comes with 32GB of storage and a 3400mAh battery. B&H has the unlocked Latin American variant of the Galaxy A10 priced at $135; the Galaxy A10e should be cheaper.

The Galaxy A series replaced the Galaxy J line and Samsung has endowed the new phones with large screens, viable cameras, and large batteries. Three of the models, the Galaxy A20, Galaxy A50, and Galaxy A70 are expected to be available in the U.S. with each of the four major U.S. carriers offering at least one of these phones. In fact, earlier today we told you that the Galaxy A50 could be launched on Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, and Sprint on June 21st.
