Fresh images of the Sony Xperia Z leak before announcement, show a funky power key
Leave it to the vast prairies of the Chinese tech blogosphere to leak something in full bloom minutes before its announcement, and the Sony Xperia Z is the next scalp on the belt here.

We were wondering what that round chrome button serves for in the last preview of the phone that appeared, and now we have our answer - it is the power/lock key, ergonomically situated right under your thumb.

The rest of the specs get reconfirmed by this latest leak, too - 5" Full HD Mobile BRAVIA screen, quad-core S4 Pro, 13 MP Exmor RS camera, and Asahi Dragontrail glass body. Now the only thing to wait for is the actual unveiling an hour from now.

I hate to say it, but this is the first time since the Sony Ericsson P990 that I've wanted to buy a Sony phone... I still reckon this was a failed Nexus phone. I just hope Sony back it up with proper update support (has been an absolute fail in the past) and an unlocked bootloader.

nokia designs suck, period. although the side ports on this phone looks good, it's still just a rectangle.

That's fine. But you can't take away the fact that Samsung handsets 'sell'.

The button has a circular look to it. I'm pretty sure Apple will sue for that. It also has a similar shape.

I'm not trying to troll on Apple, but I really do think they will sue...

nothing new in the design at all...the email sent out about "The Extraordinary Is Coming" must have something to do with a feature on the Sony Software or camera capabilities. other than that this design is not extraordinary by any mean it's looks nice just not to that exaggerated word at all..just saying

Did you notice the curved Asahi Dragontail glass? I seriously think Sony have pulled out all stops and gone for it on this one. This design is so much better than the Ericsson days!

Hopefully it'll go on sale quickly. I was annoyed earlier, but today could turn out to have been a good day for my phone to finally die!

A thing of beauty......I absolutely have to have one of these babies Z or ZL choose your poison. I believe someone asked the question as to where is the Extraordinary in this? I suggest you get a new pair of glasses as you will be hard pushed to find a more beautifully designed handset than this.

Have you been in a cave, isolated from all of mankind for the last 6 months? Oh wait, you've probably been brainwashed by Apple products..
