More delays for the white iPhone 4
Saying that the white version of the iPhone 4 has "continued to be more challenging to manufacture that we originally expected," Apple has announced that the handset will not be available until later this year. The black iPhone 4 was launched on June 24th and originally, the white model was expected to be released late in July. Earlier this month, we reported that the manufacturing process was still being held up for the white model and that there were some problems determining the thickness of the paint needed and some trouble getting the right level of white that Apple wants. For those waiting for the iPhone 4 in white, you should be satisfied with the knowledge that by the time you receive the phone, all of the connectivity problems that have haunted the black model will probably have been ironed out in the manufacturing process.

I bet if they can get it white enough people won't care that it doesn't make phone calls.

"by the time you receive the phone, all of the connectivity problems that have haunted the black model will probably have been ironed out in the manufacturing process" Oh yeah - there is just one little problem. And it's called iPhone 5 and Apple's tradition to make the next model significantly - if not infinitely - better than the previous one. Seriously - If a man bought the iPhone 4 on launch day (June) vs a man who buys it 3 months later - the man who bought the iPhone 4 in June gets to enjoy the best iPhone there is for 3 more months before the man who buys it 3 months later on. And that is because that the longer you possess a certain product, with it's position amongst similar products unchanged (iPhone 4 being the newest iPhone) - the more valuable that product is. That is also one of the reasons of the 10km lines of people who waited to get their hands on the iPhone every time a new model shipped. A year is a very short period of time.

You wre on to something there for a bit- until you hit the "Seriously" part. Are you saying that early adopters who purchases an item with bugs and needs patches and fixes has the more valuable product? Tech toys tend to be devalued over time. Want my Audiovox phone from '99??? And you do know that tech progresses forward, or at least it's supposed to but Apple has been confusing me lately... positions among similar products are always changing. Anything that remains static, is being passed by. You are right though, a year is a short time... Apple needs to field a white iP4 soon. Otherwise they'll basically be releasing an Apple Kin (although I'm sure it will sell better than the Kin did). Why buy a Kin when WP7 is coming? = Why buy a white iP4 when iP5 is coming? Android will be releasing 1.5 Ghz and 2 Ghz phones soon with Android 3.0 (Gingerbread). Unless there is a serious upgrade to the white iP4 it could possibly suffer some serious spec envy. WP7 will be here soon and also will have some impressive specs.

You prove my above point. Let us ignore what has happened to the iPhone 4 - and look to it's predecessor - the 3GS. Those who bought it in it's earliest could enjoy the fact that they had the best iPhone there was for more time - than those who bought it later on. If a person bought a 3GS several months ago - than he only had several months to enjoy it. In other words - if one considers buying a certain product - but hesitates and waits for some time - but then eventually buys it - and in that time another product comes out that is 200% better than the first one - that man cannot truly enjoy his product - because it's value has diminished due to the fact that he is aware that he either should have bought it in it's earliest stage - for him to have a superior product for as long as possible - or should have waited for the new one come out. Now, because this is Apple we are dealing here, and we know that there is a new iPhone every year - unless someone doesn't care about product value - it is better to purchase the new iPhone as soon as possible. Even if you plan to upgrade your phone once every 10 years - thats still several months of advantage - and top value - you could have for that time. Another reason for this is that Apple doesn't drop the prices on it's existing products until new ones come out.

From what I understand, every iPhone4 has the issue... whats happening is when you hold the phone a certain way you are causing interference with the antenna, which drastically reduces your reception. In some areas, the reception is strong enough that even with the reduction you still receive a signal; so the problem seems non-existant.

The U.K. (and the rest of Europe) is blanketed with signal a little better than the U.S. is due to its smaller size.

I think that they're trying to work out the kinks in this so there won't be anymore problems like the debut of it. It just takes patience.

You people make me shit. Steve Jobs could take a shit, and all of you iSheep would follow the herd to the nearest Apple store and buy it! But hey, at least Steve jobs' shit could make a simple call better than the iFail4.
