Chinese authorities have certified a new Samsung Android smartphone (model number GT-I9168) believed to be the rumored Galaxy Grand Neo, which was initially known as Galaxy Grand Lite.
The Grand Neo GT-I9168 has TD-SCDMA connectivity, so it should be released by China Mobile at some point. Assuming that there will also be a global version of it, this could have a different model number.
Specs-wise, the Galaxy Grand Neo is closer to the old Galaxy Grand from early 2013 than to the newer
Galaxy Grand 2. It appears to feature a 5-inch WVGA (480 x 800) display, quad-core 1.2GHz processor, 5MP rear camera with LED flash, VGA front-facing camera, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal memory, and a 2,100 mAh battery. The handset runs Android 4.2 Jelly Bean – unlike the Grand 2, which comes with 4.3 JB out of the box.
It’s said that
Samsung will sell the Galaxy Grand Neo for around $300 / €299. But that would be a high price for what the smartphone seems to offer. Another Galaxy Neo that’s been in the rumors lately is the
Note 3 Neo. Maybe Samsung will officially announce both these devices during MWC next month? We’ll let you know!
