Apple to maintain iPhone XS, XS Max, and XR display sizes with 2019 devices

When it comes to adopting large smartphone displays, Apple has undoubtedly been one of the most reluctant – it wasn’t until 2014 that the company finally embraced relatively large panels. This year, however, the company has gone all-in on the strategy with the 5.8-inch iPhone XS, the 6.1-inch iPhone XR, and the huge 6.5-inch iPhone XS Max. And according to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, these exact sizes will be maintained next year.

Considering the popularity of Apple’s large iPhone XS Max, the expected demand for the cheaper iPhone XR, and the fact that 2018 is the first time the latter two sizes have been available to consumers, it’s certainly no surprise to see the company stick with the same display sizes for its next-generation lineup. But, at this point in time, it remains unclear what kind of design changes Apple will introduce. The most obvious one would, however, be a reduction in size for the controversial notch.

Due to the fact that the 2019 iPhone lineup is still around 11 months away, there are relatively few known details about the devices right now. However, it was confirmed earlier today that they will maintain the same level of water and dust resistance seen on Apple’s current lineup. Moreover, they are expected to come equipped with Apple’s A13 chip. In addition to this, previous reports have pointed towards a big upgrade to the Face ID sensor system while, over on the rear, the Max model could potentially gain access to a new triple-lens layout.
