Rumor: Apple prepping 5.8-inch iPhone with OLED screen
Get your salt shaker out. According to Digitimes, Apple is working on a new iPhone model that would feature a 5.8-inch OLED screen. There has been plenty of guessing as to when an OLED-screened iPhone might be ready for prime time. Connected Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo says that this won't happen until 2019.

Don't expect Apple to introduce a 5.8-inch OLED screened model this year. Digitimes says that we won't see such a handset from Apple until 2017 at the earliest. The rumor adds that Samsung will supply the bulk of the OLED panels used by Apple for the iPhone, with LG Display and Japan Display picking up the slack. The 5.8-inch iPhone could be named the iPhone Pro.

On March 21st, Apple is believed to be introducing a brand new 4-inch handset called the Apple iPhone SE. The unit will be powered by the A9 chipset, offer NFC and Apple Pay, and carry a 12MP rear-facing camera. The iPhone SE is expected to offer Live Photos without using 3D Touch. At the event on the 21st, we should also see a new 9.7-inch version of the Apple iPad Pro with an Apple A9X chipset, 4GB of RAM, quad-speakers, and support for the Apple Pencil and the Smart Keyboard.

Lastly, a refreshed Apple Watch could be unveiled at the event, with FaceTime support.

Add water resistance and wireless charging and I may end my 5 year Apple hiatus.

That 5.8 will replace the current iPhone plus (Bezel King!) at the same body dimension.

5.8" will be the screen size if this rumor is correct. Then over all size of the phone will be more than 7 inch, in lieu to the big bezels legacy of apple. That will be a pretty big device. I don't think apple is crazy to make this device.

They really should add that stuff and I assume they have overhauled the design to get an incredible screen to body ration, one above 70% at least, since they are increasing the screen size of the plus model. If the ration is still in the 60% then an iphone sporting a 5.8in screen will be way to big.

I guess Samsung copied my old JVC big screen (when they were actually considered enormous 80inch screens back then) TV when they released a big tv screen years ago loll.

At least they weren't the hypocrites insulting big screens on TVs nor on SmartPhones (https://db.tt/cPRWBt2h), nor did they go insulting OLED technology (http://cnet.co/1L6mVod) just to later back pedal on all the insults and follow the competition.

Pretty impressive to see iPhone 6s having the same battery life as the Note 5, and smashing everyone in terms of both muti - single core processing.. only coming in second to the Note.

For a phone with "outdated hardware" coming in as second only to the Note 5.. thats pretty impressive

It's only got t2 cores, get back to me when they have the best and got 4 cores and so on, how many android phone with hi end CPUs have only 2 cores, none, that becasie android works best with more cores

My uk s7 is so fast, no lag at all and even gets 0ver 131000 in antutu, I noted posters in this site saying Samsung was over clocking phone at the show to get, that, they was not over clocking anything, the CPU is 100% under clocked, it never lags when doing updates and other things like being reported for the sd820 and also the scores do not come down big time like the sd 820

Yeah, it only has 2 cores yet it's out performing phones with 4 cores.. its pathetic and shameful that android phones with 4 core cant outperform Apples 2 cores.

Its not my Fault Apple picks stupid names for their phones xD.

and..

gsmarena says the iPhone can last as long as the Note 5

http://www.gsmarena.com/iphone_6s_plus_vs_lumia_950_xl_vs_galaxy_note5-review-1365p3.php

According to android central, iPhone 6s Plus has a slightly better battery life than the Note 5

http://www.androidcentral.com/samsung-galaxy-note-5-versus-iphone-6s-plus

android authority says roughly the same.

Yep that;s true, I always found S models are more of improvement for 5S and 6S. They had great improvements over predecessor. As I can afford one phone, I will be choosing between iphone and note every year. Let see if like 7 or 7S and try it for a year.

It sure will. Hope they stop being so greedy and stop making excuses about component restraints and introduce yet another overly priced model. The 4.7" models are reasonably priced but I always felt like I got the shaft having to stick to a non-OIS camera. If Apple skipped OLED next year and introduced the iPhone 8 with OLED all around they'd gain my 100% respect.

I'm sure that "Pro" model will cost a lot more because Apple being as greedy as they are they'll always charge more for the phone when it costs them more to produce rather than soak up the extra cost of OLED screens through reduced profits.

And might I just add, rumors say the new OLED iPhone is supposed to have a "wrap-around" (aka Edge?) display. Even though I am switching to Android this year I'd be lying if I said I wasn't intrigued. Still though, OLED for their entire iPhone lineup (not just for the premium model) will be real nice.
