Report: Xiaomi to respond to Apple Watch with a smartwatch of its own
Considering that Xiaomi is known as "China's Apple," perhaps it is no surprise to hear that the manufacturer will soon be releasing a smartwatch of its own. The eagerly awaited Apple Watch is launching on April 24th. Xiaomi would obviously love to take advantage of Apple's propensity to create a rising tide that lifts all boats with a new product or feature.

The Xiaomi Smart Watch is rumored to have a large dial and could offer pulse wave velocity identification. This would permit users to verify their identity using their own individual pulse waves. Adding this feature to a smartwatch would be extremely difficult considering the amount of energy required to power it.

The Xiaomi Smart Watch is expected to feature a brushed metal design, similar to what we've seen on the back of the HTC One M9. It should come with a round dial and a thin design. And of course, being a Xiaomi device, it will probably be more affordable.

Besides a watch, Xiaomi is also said to be working on a sequel to its Mi Band fitness tracker. First launched last summer, one million of the bands were shipped by Xiaomi in the first three months of its existence. We should see a new NFC sensor stuffed in the wearable. The original model offered Bluetooth connectivity and an accelerometer.

At this point, Xiaomi has not offered any information regarding pricing or a launch date for either device.

If so then Phonearena is out of work to do. Xiaomi copies everyone but at least is good at it.

Industry leader...yeah. Let's talk about the Apple Watch, that copied the design from the LG G Watch and Asus Zenwatch and just add some cheap rotating button on the side and BAM...an expensive out-of-your-mind price.

OMG, that's what the industry leader is all about! Yeah, there's nothing wrong when Apple copies, it's still innovation! OMG Apple! /s

Why does he have to be mad. 69% of the folks say they aren't interested in Apple over expensive, little toy that should be inside a cereal box for free.

Don't read the article if you don''t like it. PA don't demand anything from you so let them write tech-related articles if they want to. Also, Apple didn't pioneer on smartwatch so stop flooding with stupid comments. What a whiner.

So Apple is leading the smartwatch industry now? It's not even on sale yet.
An 69% of folks aren't even interested in the watch from Apple based on Reuters.

Also Apple who claimed they were going to release 6M of them at launch, have cut the numbers back to 3M. Why? BECAUSE 69% of the folks don't want an overpriced piece of junk with poor battery-life from Apple.

These writers no how toget foolish Apple fans to rise in anger.
This company is making a watcvh, not because Apple is making one, because others have already created a market for them and thus they are following the trend. As any smart OEM would do.

People didn't make a smartwatch because of Apple. They made them because of Kickstarters like pebble. Because of Android Wear and because of Samsung. Apple doesn't even have a product being sold yet.

Right...haha. Xiaomi is shameless. I'm not going to sit here & hate on them because I know they have to make their money, but we all know why their products won't be sold on U.S. shelves anytime soon.

Exactly bro, I can't even get mad at em. They're making their money, and that's all good. People who are bothered by them copying Apple need to chill out. Let them do their thing.

Glad to hear you can't be bothered with patent infringment. There is a reason companies create patents - so that they rightfully benefit financially for the time and expense that went into developing new innovations. When companies like Xiaiomi blatently rip off other companies, this hurts everyone since innovation depends upon capital. What's the point of Apple, Samsung, Google, etc. putting money into research and design if other companies can take the end result, copy it, and make money without putting any of their own money into research or paying royalties? Why even have patent laws?

This type of theft may be fine in China, where companies rip off others with impunity and face no legal or financial ramifications, but it won't fly outside of China, You can bet that Xiaomi will face many legal hurdles outside of China, as they should. It may be a laughing matter to you that companies like Xiaomi rip others off, but we do have something called a legal system for a reason.

Yep I agree. Because Apple isn't going to sue them because they aren't a partner.

Apple only sues partners that decide to compete with them in the same space. As history has shown. First it was Microsoft, then it was Samsung.

Yet you have 5 OEM's who have a phone that runs Android, but physically they made the phones look exactly like the iPhone even down to the launcher being identical to iOS..

What has Apple done or said? Nothing!

But they sued Samsung who doesn't even have a phone that looks identical. Hmmm!

As usual, no matter what Chinese do, they will definitely get bashed. No matter what Apple/Samsung do, they will definitely get praised.

This just shows how close-minded and stupid are people these days.

Yea funny thing is Samsung got bashed for the Galaxy S6 looking like the iPhone 6
But Apple never got bashed for the iPhone 6 looking like Samsung's Ativ S

Because the ATIV S predates the iPhone 6 and the design is so very similar. But Apple fanbois don't see that. The S6 looks nothing like the iPhone and even the ATIV S has a speaker grill that uses drilled round holes. Again, the fans see what they want because they are blind and stupid.

Look how carefully Alan manipulated the news of Xiomi's smartwatch, (which has nothing to do with Apple whatsoever) and added Apple to that news piece with superlatives about Apple (which apple doesn't deserve none of). This is a new apple (paid) marketing technique to add Apple's name to everything Android (as apple has just one product compared to the numerous products of Android). PA please stop irritating Android fans with unnecessary mention of Apple.

Xiaomi stragegy and priority is win in local first, no matter how much we discuss their product, we still can't get the device anytime soon. And actually only few people will care whether Xiaomi is copycat, majority users still care more about their prices, especially in Asia market.
