After months of leaks about Samsung's foldables, their official unveiling is right around the corner. The summer Unpacked is scheduled for July 22, 2026, and we're finally going to officially see the new wider foldable that may be called the Galaxy Z Fold 8, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra – which is the true successor to the Z Fold 7 – and the Z Flip 8 clamshell foldable.
The event is also expected to feature Samsung's next lineup of smartwatches. Here's how to watch and what you can expect to see at Samsung Galaxy Unpacked Summer 2026.

The July Unpacked is expected to be focused on Samsung's upcoming foldables. It's mainly about announcing the new phones and their features, as well as unveiling the two smartwatches.

The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra is expected to be the true successor to the Galaxy Z Fold 7, and it's shaping up to be one of the more substantive generational leaps the Fold line has seen in years.
The headline upgrade is said to be the crease – Samsung is introducing a new hinge technology called Flex Titanium that reportedly brings the fold line in line with the Oppo Find N6, widely considered the industry benchmark.
Beyond the crease, expect a significantly larger 5,000mAh battery – up 14% from the Fold 7's 4,400mAh cell – along with 45W wired charging, a big jump from the 25W cap on last year's model.

The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy is expected to power it, and the inner display may be getting a resolution bump to around 500 ppi, bringing it in line with the Galaxy S26 Ultra. The ultra-wide camera is also rumored to jump from 12MP to 50MP.
Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide

This is the real talking point of Unpacked 2026. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide – which may actually end up being called simply the Galaxy Z Fold 8 – is said to be a brand-new form factor with a 7.6-inch inner display in a 4:3 aspect ratio, making it feel closer to a compact tablet than a traditional foldable.
The cover screen is reported to measure 5.4 inches. It's shorter and wider than the Fold Ultra, and it's Samsung's direct answer to the foldable iPhone Apple is expected to unveil later this year.

The Wide may drop the telephoto lens in favor of a dual-camera setup with a 50 MP main and 50 MP ultra-wide. It is expected to run the same Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip, pack a 4,800mAh battery, and support 45W wired charging. Pricing is expected to land between $1,799 and $1,999 – potentially making it the more accessible of the two Fold models.
Galaxy Z Flip 8

The Flip 8 may not be a dramatic upgrade, but it would still be a meaningful refresh. The biggest change may be the chip – the Exynos 2600 in most markets and the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 in select regions. The crease is also expected to improve significantly.
Beyond that, though, the camera is likely staying the same (50 MP main, 12 MP ultra-wide), the battery may hold steady at around 4,300mAh, and charging may remain at 25W wired. Samsung is also reportedly considering a Galaxy Z Flip 8 FE for a lower price point.
Galaxy Watch 9

The Galaxy Watch 9 is expected to keep the squircle design that debuted on the Watch 8 and carry it forward largely unchanged. The meaningful upgrade here is likely the chip – both the Watch 9 and Watch Ultra 2 are now rumored to debut with Qualcomm's new Snapdragon Wear Elite, a 3nm processor built specifically for AI-focused wearables, replacing the Exynos W1000.
The 44mm model is also reportedly getting a small but real battery bump. Samsung has already teased one new feature by name: Heart Health Score, which replaces the existing cardiovascular load metric. A Galaxy Watch 9 Classic is also rumored alongside the standard model.
Galaxy Watch Ultra 2

The Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 may get a much more significant upgrade than the standard Watch 9. The battery may jump to around 800mAh – roughly 35% larger than the original's 590mAh cell – and combined with the more efficient Snapdragon Wear Elite chip, meaningful gains in real-world battery life look very realistic.
The design is reportedly staying at 47mm, but leaked renders from Evan Blass show several tweaks: a redesigned button layout, a smaller orange accent, and a new band style. The Ultra 2 may also be Samsung's first smartwatch with built-in 5G connectivity, catching up to the Apple Watch Ultra 3 on that front.
Galaxy XR Glasses
The Galaxy XR glasses may make an appearance during the Unpacked. Google talked about its own take on smart glasses at I/O, and mentioned a collab with Samsung. Details are scarce, but we may hear something about smart glasses during the event.
What not to expect
Samsung has confirmed it is working on the Galaxy Ring 2, but it likely won't be launching at July's Unpacked. A debut at CES 2027 or Mobile World Congress shortly after seems more probable.
