The Galaxy Watch 8 series started receiving One UI 9 Watch via Samsung's One UI beta program last week. The rollout is currently limited to South Korea, but it's expected to expand to other regions soon. After reporting the news, a surprising result came out of the poll inside the original article.

Galaxy Watch 8 series is getting a lot of love

We asked you, "What Galaxy Watch model do you currently own?" The results are strongly in favor of the Galaxy Watch 8, with more than 50% of all the votes.

It's also interesting that the "Galaxy Watch 7 or older" scored a distant second place with a tad under 20%. I expected more people to have clung to their older Galaxy Watches.

Third place goes to the Galaxy Watch Ultra. The original Ultra got 19% of the votes, beating its successor by quite a margin (Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 got only 6.7%).

The Galaxy Watch 9 series is a rarity

Another takeaway from the poll is that the new Galaxy Watch 9 series hasn't picked up momentum yet. Only about 3% of all the votes went that way.

Samsung officially unveiled the Galaxy Watch 9 series on July 22, and they went on sale on August 7. Almost a month later, people are still hesitant to upgrade. That's not surprising, given the popularity of the Galaxy Watch 8.

The jump from Galaxy Watch 8 to the current flagship, the Galaxy Watch 9 series, is rather small in terms of upgrades, so I guess most people don't feel the need to upgrade.

Everyone owns a Galaxy Watch! (Not)

Okay, this one's not very objective. Even though only 0.92% answered that they don't own a Galaxy Watch, this doesn't mean that everyone of our readers owns a Samsung wearable.

The poll was embedded in a news piece about a Galaxy Watch 8 upgrade, so it's only logical that people who own this particular model clicked on the title and voted in the poll.

That said, given the focus of the news, it's still surprising that owners of different Galaxy Watch models are interested in the One UI 9 Watch update.

It's a good-looking UI, that's for sure. Fingers crossed it will arrive on Galaxy Watch 8 series devices outside South Korea soon.
