If you're looking for the best Android tablet money can buy right now, the Lenovo Tab One is... definitely not "the one." But if you don't have a lot of money to spend and just want something new that... works and can keep you entertained during your travels or daily commute to the office or the classroom, the compact 8.7-incher might well do the trick.

In addition to a relatively small body by 2026 standards that some of you are likely to view as a strength rather than a weakness, the ultra-affordable slate holds another key and very obvious advantage over all the greatest Apple iPads and Samsung Galaxy Tabs around. I'm talking, of course, about the very reasonable $179.99 list price that you can impressively mark all the way down to $99.99 today without jumping through any hoops.

The significantly costlier Lenovo Idea Tab Pro Gen 2 is also a much better device, and for an undoubtedly limited time, it's on sale at a huge discount.

Excellent for first-time tablet users and undemanding bargain hunters in general, the 8.7-inch Lenovo Tab One actually packs a pretty decent octa-core processor and a respectable 4GB RAM count for its newly reduced price of only $99.99 in a single Luna Grey colorway.

Because the cheapest iPads typically cost hundreds of dollars more than that, and even something like the Galaxy Tab A11+ is pretty hard to come by at under $250 nowadays, I don't think it's wrong to identify Amazon's latest Fire HD 8 edition as the only direct Lenovo Tab One competitor available in the US. And even that undeniably modest 8-incher is currently more expensive than $100 with a hexa-core processor under the hood and no Google Play support.

The Lenovo Tab One, of course, comes with the full Android experience (although it's unlikely to ever receive an Android 16 update), as well as a slightly faster octa-core MediaTek Helio G85 processor on deck. And a not-too-shabby Dolby Atmos-tuned dual speaker system. And a 5,100mAh battery purportedly capable of keeping the lights on for up to 12.5 hours of continuous YouTube streaming between charges.

Look, I'm definitely not saying these specs are great by, well, any "modern" standards, but at $99.99, they will probably do for the most cash-strapped tablet buyers out there. Especially after Lenovo's second round of price hikes in less than five months, which actually didn't impact the Tab One (unlike the first one from back in the spring).
