Galaxy S27 may bring back one of Samsung's best traditions

We may not have to wait too much to get our hands on the Galaxy S27.

Samsung's Galaxy S27 may return to normal, launch-wise. After a somewhat delayed Galaxy S26 announcement (the event was held on February 25, 2026), the South Korean tech giant may be going back to its usual January launch window for next year's flagship Android phones.

The Galaxy S27 may debut in January

X leaker Anvin just shared a snapshot of China's 3C certification database, providing an early glimpse of the Galaxy S27 and the Galaxy S27 Plus charging capabilities and a possible clue of when the series may arrive.

Usually, Galaxy S phones receive 3C certification several months before launch. For instance, the Galaxy S26 lineup got its clearance in January 2026, while the devices were officially released on March 11, 2026. Earlier, Samsung's Galaxy S25 landed in January 2025 and received 3C certification in September 2024.

Given this pattern, a February 2027 launch becomes somewhat unlikely, while a January debut becomes entirely plausible. Then again, we'll only know for sure when the upcoming devices will land once we get closer to 2027.

In addition, the listing suggests that the Galaxy S27 (model SM-S9520) and the Galaxy S27+ (model SM-S9560) may not come with any upgrades on the charging speed front. Supposedly, the Galaxy S27 may support charging at up to 25W, while the Plus model could stick to 45W.

If it ain't broke...

I don't mean to be throwing stones at any brand, especially given that Apple's upcoming iPhone 18 Pro Max may feature a larger battery but not faster charging, but still... Should Samsung stick to 25W on the "vanilla" Galaxy S flagship for a seventh year in a row? I'm not sure.

Then again, as our charging tests show, both the Galaxy S26 and the Plus actually charge a bit faster than their predecessors. Maybe, just maybe, with the right optimizations, the upcoming devices may reach 100% faster than the S26 models.

How likely is a January launch exactly?

While Samsung achieved record-breaking profits in Q1 2026, the cumulative sales in the weeks leading up to the Galaxy S26 Unpacked event marked a 6% decrease compared to the same period last year

Now, I'm not claiming Samsung will move to January simply to keep profits high in the first few weeks of 2027. But here's the thing: unless there's a development-related reason to delay the S27, returning to the established January schedule would make more sense.

Let's see how things unfold

Jumping to conclusions this early doesn't sit right with me. But hoping for a January launch is a whole other thing.

With four models coming up, new designs (even if some of them aren't exactly fan favorites), possible battery upgrades on the S27 Ultra and even a self-repairing display, there's definitely a lot to look forward to.

Now, the question is just how long Samsung fans will have to wait.
