Apple to launch 7.85 inch mini Apple iPad in Q3 of 2012?
Despite the overwhelming success of the 9.7 inch Apple iPad, the smaller 7 inch Amazon Kindle Fire has been outselling the Apple tablet during the holiday season and Apple might want to provide a more well rounded tablet lineup for buyers. The late Steve Jobs was known to have been against the production of a 7 inch tablet.
Talk about a 7.85 inch Apple tablet is just speculation at the moment, as it would force Apple to cut corners in order to compete with a low priced device like the Amazon Kindle Fire. Apple might have to cut the amount of storage or put a slower processor under the hood.

copycat copycat... oh wait... or will they sue others instead?

As long as you don't make it a rectangle, with rounded edges, flat, or in the center of the device... no.

You guys have really no idea what a patent is, or you do? first I don't know a patent with screen size 7 inch is only for that company. Second you're reffering to the galaxy samsung tab 10.1 that seemed to have violated in apple patents (wich is off-topic also) but is spoken free.
Look I know you think you know everything about patents. If you think a company that sued cause they see patent violation is bad, is doing wrong. Then you need to think first. Don't blame the company, blame the hole patent system. The patent system is badly arranged. And blame the media, they seem more interesting in apple in court then other companies suing.
Next comment you gonna say there patents are ridiculous. And that they only sue, and need to get sued in order to stop. Wich isn't true, other companies sue to.
Whatever you gonna say i won't reply on it. Blame the patent system. And look at apple's patents they're quite detailed.http://www.patentlyapple.com/. And microsoft isn't getting sued by apple, but android much more, why?
And yes I know it was more a joke of mukrenol. It seems more like you all don't want that apple get's a 7 inch. P.S. not directly replied to you but to most people here that talk about suing.

I stopped reading after your first paragraph. It was a joke.
Take the Apple out of your ass and relax.

Well thx iamcc and also for down voting a thing you didn't read at all.
Well that proofes your ignorance, I guess. And then ending with a polite american ass joke. If you wanna start a flame war, fine. Rly last time i reply to you unless you discus with me like for example qouting and saying your thoughts is ok (but be polite).
And i will only read your first paragraph (or sentence if short message) from now on.

Okay. I read your whole post.
I know what a patent is, my dad has invented several products.
I don't think I know everything about patents. I don't think a company suing over patent violation is bad. I think a company seeking a ban on a product without even asking for royalties first, is bad.
I will not blame the whole patent system. Overall it works well as long as companies don't abuse it (Apple).
Apple's patents can be quite detailed but seeking a ban on a product simply because it looks like yours is ridiculous, as can be seen by the over turned ban.
Whether you read my posts or reply I don't really care...

Well thank you. Althought samsung wants to ban products to. They tried to ban apple products in the netherlandshttp://newsandinsight.thomsonr
euters.com/California/News/201. So samsung did it too. I don't know but imagine a phone and then an other company imitates that and the only differents are the buttons. If you had a patent design then you could ban the imitators. In that case it's good that's what patents are designed for, you force them to change or ban it. those are the two most used options were patents are good for. But the problem is that design is quite subjectief. And yes I don't find it completely good what apple does. 1/10_-_October/Samsung_loses_Dutch_b id_to_ban_Apple_products/

why wud they make a smaller tablet and make it only a 100 less… i cud see them selling it for 250 to 300…
i am not sure if this is the best idea for apple… it seems nice in theory to have a 7 inch tbalet for cheap, but i would rather apple stay in the premium market and let souped up ereaders fight for the 7 inch… it wud be sad to see ios become fragmented liek that

finaly apple is swalowing its pride and stoping to believe that the world revolves around it.its time 2 offer variety and join the 7 inch samsung pioneered wagon.though it will still be a ripoff like all other iproducts...even the apple logo is half bitten

what's the big deal with different screen sizes..on desktop windows is used with tons of screen resolutions and sizes..
i dont think its a very big issue to optimize an app for 3 screen sizes..if they cant do it i suggest to drop theis businesess

The 7 inch tablet is really small size for movies and browsing (specially for larg hands people like me ^_^), I think the best is 8.9 just like the Samsung tab 8.9" , it's just amazing
10. Lucas777 (Posts: 2137; Member since: 06 Jan 2011)
for what? apple isnt suing every 10 inch tablet… just the galaxy tab because it looks incredibly similar… even samsung's lawyers cudnt tell the difference… that is just sad

Uhm.. Isn't Apple's strategy to focus on its biggest competitor to make it an example for all the others? Samsung's the biggest threat.
25. blade19 (Posts: 60; Member since: 29 Apr 2011)
Ummm... I think they (Apple) are also sueing Motorola for the xoom... not just Samsung

Apple has the world smallest catalogue of phones but the biggest list of rumors
14. tacohunter (Posts: 408; Member since: 06 Nov 2011)
Cause people (espacially the media) are more interested in it. There are more rumors.
22. ivanko34 (Posts: 617; Member since: 04 Sep 2011)
it is a old marketing trick that apple uses all the time
They pretend to prepare a new product for the next months so people who want a small tab don't go to buy it to the apple competitors. They wait they wait but nothing come most of the time. Like iphone with a bigger screen
26. tacohunter (Posts: 408; Member since: 06 Nov 2011)
Why do people talk about marketing like they know it from the insight out? Rly give me a source. Only then I will believe you. And a company is more then just marketing just saying. And other companies do on marketing also but not as good as apple apparantly.
Your thoughts on apple as a company are just weird in every comment on every article. for example having a small number of phones doesn't mean that one phone or two phones are bad.
Quality > Quantity
Or you have dyslexi or you think that Quantity > Quality

Motorola tried it with the Bionic, and fail.. Chamsung tried and succeed with the Nexus. ( there was a line outside the store for the nexus ).. and Ivanko they dont need to pretende anything.. is the media that creates all the buzz, and rumors so they can get readers.... the only thing Apple does is loan protypes to drunken Apple interns
13. tacohunter (Posts: 408; Member since: 06 Nov 2011)
It's just a rumor don't care. Why not just wait. I think 7inch is just to small.
