Jelly Bean flavored CyanogenMod 10 alpha released for 2011 Sony Ericsson Xperia smartphones

Will the 2011 Sony Ericsson Xperia lineup ever get a Jelly Bean update? Perhaps it will, perhaps it won't. It all depends on whether Sony can make the software work smoothly on its smartphones from yesteryear. In the meantime, however, there's a whole variety of custom Android 4.1 ROMs based on CyanogenMod, available for download from the XDA Developers forum...

Call of Duty: Black Ops Zombies has been finally released for Android after its iPhone debut. For the first month after its launch, however, only three smartphones will be given exclusive access to it: the Sony Xperia S, Sony Xperia ion, and quite surprisingly, the 16-month-old Sony Ericsson Xperia PLAY. Once the exclusivity period expires, however, anyone with a decent Android device should be able to enjoy some quality zombie shooting fun...

Sony's NXT line transparent bar set as notification light via 3rd party app, Xperia U gets all the colors

That transparent strip which lights up and looks so cool on Sony's NXT design line phones like the Xperia S, P and U, doesn't serve much purpose for notifications. Granted, on the Xperia U it lights up in red, white, yellow, green, purple and blue depending on the music you are listening to or the theme you are wearing, but that's about it. Up until now, since a third party app emerged called tellingly Illumination Bar Notification, and allows you to set the transparent strip on the Xperia U to light up in all the above colors for new messages, emails, missed calls and so on...
