The same is actually not true for the Galaxy Watch 9, but that's where Amazon comes in with a cool launch promotion likely to run until August 7. This is obviously not as generous as the e-commerce giant's Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 debut deal, although Samsung's most cash-strapped fans will probably appreciate the opportunity to score a complimentary $50 Amazon gift card with the new non-rugged timepiece more than getting a $100-worth freebie alongside the much costlier Apple Watch Ultra 3 rival.
The Galaxy Watch 9, remember, is a little more expensive than last year's Galaxy Watch 8, nonetheless starting at a fairly reasonable $379.99. That's for a small 40mm model without cellular connectivity, while the large 44mm variant is priced at $409.99 with GPS and Bluetooth support only.
The LTE-enabled units, meanwhile, are available at $429.99 and $459.99 in the same 40 and 44mm sizes, respectively, and although Amazon isn't ready to allow you to reduce those list prices in any way, a $50 gift card might help improve the value proposition here and convince you to forget all about the impending Pixel Watch 5.

Google's next big Apple Watch alternative is of course expected to look better than the Galaxy Watch 9 (at least in my eyes), with a cleaner and more premium circular design, but its seemingly unchanged Snapdragon W5 Gen 2 processor over last year's Pixel Watch 4 might give it an insurmountable disadvantage compared to Samsung's Snapdragon Wear Elite powerhouse.
Yes, the Galaxy Watch 9 is likely to deliver unrivaled overall performance while also shining on the long-term software support front, and despite not changing much, in the health monitoring department as well. That's right, this bad boy is capable of detecting signs of sleep apnea, atrial fibrillation, and irregular heart rhythms, also keeping an eye on its wearer's blood pressure, overall sleep quality, and many other general wellness indicators.
