If you are not living under a rock, you must be aware that Samsung has already released all the expected foldables of 2026, which include the Galaxy Z Fold 8, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, and the Galaxy Z Flip 8. However, you would be surprised to know that Sammy is all set to launch one more foldable this year; in fact, it's coming out next week.

Samsung's new foldable is releasing in just a few days

The South Korean giant made a post on Weibo announcing that it is going to release a new device in China on October 29th at 4:00 p.m. local time. The post also features an image that basically displays a foldable device that has a bright gold-colored frame.

Everything you need to know about new foldable

Soon after the Weibo post was made by Samsung, a highly trusted tipster, Ice Universe, mentioned that the teased device is the Samsung W27. It is actually a China-exclusive variant of the recently launched Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra. The tipster also shared an image of the device, and by the camera module design and the form factor, it does look like the Z Fold 8 Ultra.

However, there are certainly a few things unique in the device when it comes to looks. Firstly, the posted image shows the phone in a stunning new blue color. For reference, the globally available Ultra model is available in three color options, but none of them is blue.

The next thing you might notice in the shared image is a golden-colored camera island and a totally different logo at the back.

What features to expect in the Samsung W27?

In addition to sharing an image of the upcoming Samsung foldable, tipster Ice Universe also mentioned that the device will carry the same specifications as that of the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra. That means it will feature an 8-inch foldable display and a 6.5-inch cover screen that supports a 120 Hz refresh rate. The phone will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 SoC and will likely offer RAM of up to 16 GB and storage of up to 1 TB.

When it comes to cameras, you will probably see a triple-camera setup at the back, with the main camera being 200 MP, the ultra-wide being 50 MP, and the telephoto lens being 10 MP. The foldable might come equipped with a 5000 mAh battery that will support 45 W wired and 20 W wireless charging.

Samsung and its history with W line devices

It is not the first time Samsung is releasing a W series smartphone. The company releases a fancier version of its top foldable of the year exclusively in China every year. The device is also sold through China Telecom.

Sammy has been following this tradition for many years now, like when it released the W22, which was a special version of the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and was only available in the Chinese smartphone market. It was only in 2024 that the tech giant broke its tradition of launching its special phone in China. That time, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 special edition saw a broader release.

It is also worth noting that this special edition foldable not only comes with a fancy design but also some extra upgrades, like more RAM and bigger retail packages. For instance, last year Samsung's W26, which was based on the Galaxy Z Fold 7, features an added benefit of satellite calling and messaging, which is not available on the original device. So, it will be interesting to see what new features the upcoming W27 comes with in comparison to the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra.

All that said, the device is going to be China-exclusive, so you will have to import it if you want to give it a try.
