As more vendors jump on the wide foldable trend, some consumers are wondering if the new form factor will prove impractical and bulky. However, a couple of newly leaked images suggest that the Galaxy Z Fold 8 will be quite ergonomic.

The wide Galaxy Z Fold 8, which will apparently launch simply as the Fold 8, doesn't look all that unwieldy. In a side-by-side photograph alongside the Galaxy Z Flip 8 and Fold 8 Ultra, it doesn't look like an out-of-place giant.
Sure, it's noticeably wider and shorter when opened, but that's exactly what makes it unique.
One-handed use won't necessarily be a dealbreaker for most people when it's closed, a detail that's also apparent from an image of the screen protectors.

Flagships have grown quite humongous as it is, meaning every bit of added thickness heavily impacts the daily experience.
While the difference is perceptible, it still sits within an acceptable range.

The images have also revealed that the Fold 8 and 8 Ultra will have sharp edges, while the Flip 8 will have rounder corners.

The Fold 8 Ultra solidifies its marquee status with three rear cameras, while the others settle for just two.
Each device looks distinct enough to cater to different needs, which is Samsung's real win.
New models don't mean new converts
Samsung's expanding portfolio of foldable phones doesn't mean it's expecting higher sales. In fact, the company has reportedly revised its sales target down from 6.5 million units to between 5 and 6 million. That's allegedly because the new models are likely to cost more than their predecessors due to rising component prices, and Samsung expects that to weigh on demand.
That makes Samsung's decision to plow ahead with a new model even more commendable, though it might eventually discontinue the Flip.
