Xiaomi's Pocophone F1 will receive an update to Android Q
Generally, consumers who want high-end performance and premium features at a lower price will opt for either a slightly older flagship or the OnePlus 6T. However, certain users are only interested in the performance, which is where Xiaomi’s Pocophone F1 comes in.

At a price of just $370 in the US, the smartphone packs Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845, 6GB of RAM and a respectable 64GB of internal storage. Out of the box, the device comes running Android 8.1 Oreo complete with the MIUI 9.6 overlay on top. Previously, Xiaomi has confirmed that an update to Android 9 Pie will be pushed out over the coming months. But according to Pocophone’s Head of Product, Jai Mani, this will be followed by “at least” next year’s Android Q update.

Presumably, the software will be paired with Xiaomi’s upcoming MIUI 11 custom overlay when it launches next year. Considering the usual timeline of Android releases, though, the Android Q update will probably not arrive until the end of 2019 or the beginning of 2020.

Beyond this update, there is no guarantee Pocophone will continue to support the F1 with major Android releases. However, owners of the device will still have access to three years of software updates.
