Nokia Lumia 620 bundled with IP certified case to become the Protected Edition
If you're looking for a Nokia Lumia model that is resistant to water and dust, you could check out the Nokia Lumia 620 Protected Edition, offered by the Finnish based manufacturer. But unlike other handsets that are actually certified as water and dust resistant like the Samsung Galaxy S4 Active and the Sony Xperia Z, the Nokia Lumia 620 relies on a rugged case with IP 54 certification to protect it from the elements. The case is bundled with the phone to become the Nokia Lumia 620 Protected Edition.

This is the first Nokia model to shrug off water and dust since back in 2009 when the Nokia 3720 had an IP 54 certification. The same IP 54 certification on the Nokia Lumia 620 Protected Edition will keep the phone safe from dust and splashes of water. Unlike the aforementioned Sony Xperia Z and the Samsung Galaxy S4 Active, the Nokia Lumia 620 Protected Edition will not survive immersion in water. To achieve the certification level it has, the Lumia 620 with the case, had to withstand a test lasting 5 minutes with a water volume of 10 litres per minute and a pressure of 80–100 kPa. In addition the case provides some protection for those Butterfingers who drop their phone often.

The Nokia Lumia 620 offers a 3.8 inch TFT display with resolution of 480 x 800 (WVGA) which works out to a pixel density of 246ppi. Driving Miss Daisy is a dual-core 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Plus CPU with the Adreno 305 GPU. 512MB of RAM are on board and 8GB of storage come with the phone. That can be expanded using the 64GB microSD slot. A 5MP camera with an f/2.4 aperture is on back with a front-facing .3MP shooter. A 1300mAh cell keeps the lights on.

The Nokia Lumia 620 Protected Edition is being sold online by a pair of Finnish retailers (Gigantti.fi andVerkkokauppa.com) for 239 EUR ($320 USD). But the case alone is 25 EUR ($33.50 USD) and the phone sold separately is 198 EUR ($265 USD). You do the math to find out the most financially prudent way to buy a rugged Nokia Lumia phone.
