Android 4.4 KitKat release date detailed, coming soon to Nexus 4, Nexus 7, Nexus 10
After drooling over the numerous leaks for weeks, now it is time to finally experience the sweetness of Android 4.4 first hand. At last, Google has announced more specific details regarding the software update's release date. The newly unveiled Google Nexus 5 smartphone will ship with it out of the box, of course. For those who are holding on to a Google Nexus 4, Nexus 7, or a Nexus 10, their device will be blessed with some KitKat goodness in the coming weeks. The Google Play editions of the Samsung Galaxy S4 and the HTC One are scheduled to get the update around that time as well.

Note that the Samsung Galaxy Nexus isn't among the smartphones getting Android 4.4, or at least not officially. As for the smartphones and tablets not offered by Google, it is up to their manufacturers to decide whether and when these devices are to be updated to Android 4.4 KitKat.
