Verizon's LTE is OUT again
Share:
If we can find one good thing to say about Verizon's 4G outage, at least it doesn't affect all of those new Motorola DROID X2 owners who bought the phone when it launched online yesterday. If you have been having problems with your 4G service with Verizon, let us know by dropping some words in the comment box below.

I am wondering whether LTE is ready for prime time?

i don't think it was for long coz i was using my mom's Droid Charge that day around the time of the supposed outage and i was lacking a 4G signal where i normally would've but after like an hour or so it was behaving normally again.

Um LTE has been in TN since day one. Ever heard of Nashville or Clarksville?! It covers most of middle tennessee already. Check your source before you post please!

Well, if Jobs would just stop sending his color coded ninjas out to kill the signal...
But it may also be maintenance they're performing on the network. After all, their 3G needed maintenance too once in a while.

Actually, I think the sourcing might be a bit to the North - as in Washington state. Remember the saying DOS isn't done until Lotus won't run?

My 4G was only out for half an hour, but unfortunately it took 3G with it while it was gone.

My 4G is all good here in The Windy City.

I don't like Verizon anymore. Ever since they got the iphone, my 3g service has been horrible, and now they are having 4g problems.
Called to inquire about the lack of 3g signal in my area, NYC, and they didn't seem to care about my problem.
Think I'm gonna switch to T-mobile, their network is fast, reliable, and their plans are cheaper.
16. icepikk posted on 21 May 2011, 09:45 8 2
For you, I'd say you may be seeing T-Mobile through rose-colored glasses. Their plans are cheaper, but as for fast and reliable, no. The fast is slow compared to LTE, and even if it is fast, say 4-5Mbps, that will only last you for 5GB and then it will be .80 or less, if you're lucky to get past the 1-2Mbps in the first place at a lot of times, because the service is anything but reliable. I have it and I have so many outages and times when I cant make calls or send texts and times where I have no data signal at all, and my fiancee has the same thing, so it isnt my phone.

Well I had t-mobile before which sucked cuz there network wud always be goin down nd shit so I switched to Verizon and got a droid charge. And so far I have not been happy with Verizon cuz one day there 4G works fine, then da next day it craps out. Its like having T-Mobile again. It fuking sucks. If this keeps goin on like this I might cancel Verizon and switch company. But idk to which one cuz I also heard att sucks. So yea I'm in quite a pickle.
17. icepikk posted on 21 May 2011, 09:48 9 1
And as for you, I doubt you find a service you like since you seem to be so **** picky. You hated T-Mobile's service, so you left. Now you have had Verizon for quite a short period of time if the indication is you got the Charge when you switched, and you have one problem and now hate it. Trust me, you will have far less troubles with Verizon than you did with T-Mobile or would with Sprint or AT&T. Yet you arent sure where to go cuz you hear AT&T sucks. So for you they all suck, so you will never be happy. Deal with the fact that with technology, new technology especially like LTE, there are bumps in the road and things need to be worked out, and stop expecting everything to be perfect and you'll be fine.

This is why it's smart to wait on 4G. There are still bugs being ironed out. Even if there was a 4G iPhone I wouldn't get it. I'm waiting till all the glitches are out then I'll save money on a 4G device. Or by the time Apple decides to release a 4G iPhone all the bugs should be out.
19. shawndog1 posted on 21 May 2011, 10:22 4 0
But , will you save on the plan ? At no extra cost you can be locked into a unlimited plan . it's not like you don't have 3g to fall back on .
23. cellgeek82 posted on 21 May 2011, 12:26 0 0
You're right. But I also hear of power consumption issues too. So even if I got a 4G device, as soon as I'd upgrade to an "improved" device they'd make me drop my unlimited plan. Either way I have to wait. I tried Android before but I'm a long-term iPhone user now.

What ever works for ya , I live in the boons were their is only dial up . This is the clear choice for me even if i haft pay full price for my phone for now on .

Guys guys.. its ok. VZW had to turn off LTE because jesus said it was interfering with transfering the saved souls to heaven (they run off similar bandwith). Since today is Rapture, LTE will be down until tomorrow when all the saved people are in heaven and all of us sinners are left with each other. LTE services will resume then.
Thats the good news.. the bad news is all the saved people will be running on Angel Wireless in heaven which runs 5gb/s with no overages or bandwith caps and a flat rate of $20 a month.
Dont ya wish u went to church now! lol

Or you could just go to Sprint and get unlimited for only 10 extra dollars instead of 20. God has unlimited texting to all his saints and friends included in that offering.

lol sprint doesnt run at 5gigs a second. ill pay 20 any day for 5 gigs a second of data transfer with no caps or throttles.. lol :)

5 Gbps? Or 5 GB/s? Either way, I HIGHLY doubt you're getting speeds that fast over 4G.
42. CRICKETownz posted on 22 May 2011, 12:11 0 0
@codymws - are you kidding me? Have you used a phone in heaven? I get like 21GB/s seriously. dude...obviously you didn't bother to read his first post. It was meant to be completely fictional lol. you were all ready to disagree lol...geez talk about argumentative.

@icepikk & Cellgeek... Yet another reason to wait for bionic imo.

I'm currently using my Droid Charge just fine. I just got 27mb down during a speed test.

Lte using sim cards I think is the problem....Verizon is now going thru the problems ATT and tmobiles been going thru for years....sim card technology sucks!!!!!
36. codymws posted on 21 May 2011, 22:39 0 0
Eh. GSM and CDMA each have their problems. I wouldn't blame it on GSM or SIM cards. Usually it's the carrier not maintaining the network.

Nobody believed me when I said LTE is still maturing and full of hiccups. Well, well, well...

4G never went out in Minnesota. I'm happy with the network here.

There was a Verizon outage of all cell sevices last night (5/21) shortly after midnight for about 15/20 min in NYC. I have a Droid Incredible.

Baaaahaaahaaaa!!!!! Verizon blows. All you AT&T haters can suck it
43. Steve Newsome (unregistered) posted on 22 May 2011, 14:19 0 0
Yaa because AT&T is sooooo reliable right???
37. codymws posted on 21 May 2011, 22:43 1 0
Every carrier with any technology is going to have problems, especially when it first launches. Sprint had problems, T-Mobile had some, AT&T had some, and Verizon has had some too.
Carriers are run by people, and people make mistakes.

I've had my Thunderbolt for about a month now, and the week after I got it was the outage. As much as I love the speed of both LTE and the Thunderbolt itself, I think some more thought should have gone into both. I can understand why the Thunderbolt didn't get called the Incredible HD; it's not quite up to the standards of either the original Incredible or the Droid brand in general. As for 4G, they need to get this straightened out immediately. LTE service has been intermittent at best since the outage. Whatever brought the network down in the first place (and I refuse to believe it was the additional load of iPhone users) doesn't seem to have been resolved.
45. give it some time (unregistered) posted on 22 May 2011, 21:09 0 0
All you users that are mad because supposedly every carrier sucks.... give it some time. The Cellular industry is in the middle of a dramatic change. Everyone is changing how they do business and all this new technology is going to take time to get right. 3G isn't perfect but it is really stable but how long has it been around? Give 4G a chance to grow and get there and it will be just as stable and the experience will be worth the wait. And for all of you peeps hating on verizon 4G... and think t-maybe is better. Just go to PC World and look at the reviews. Verizon is the fastest, largest, and most reliable network for a reason. They are having hiccups now but once they are done then it is going to be one hell of a network with 4G!
