Google Maps may finally come to iOS tonight

A new report has just come out that Google is planning to relaunch Google Maps on iOS tonight. Google Maps was unceremoniously dropped from Apple products as of iOS 6 in favor of Apple Maps. Apple Maps, to put it very lightly, was a flop, and users have been looking to get back to the properly mapped world of Google.

AllThingsD is reporting that Google plans to launch the iOS Google Maps app tonight, which must mean that the app has already passed through Apple's app approval process. No word on expected features or a timeframe for release, but word has it that it will launch by the end of the night on Wednesday.

We'll keep an eye out and let you know when Google Maps is finally back on iOS.
