First glimpse of the Intel-Samsung Tizen OS gallery surface, looks like a DNA spiral (video)
MeeGo gets to live in Intel and Samsung's labs in the form of the open-source Tizen mobile OS, which is apparently prepped to be the newest playground in the quest to take on Android, iOS and Windows Phone.

Samsung already said that Tizen and its own mobile OS bada might merge one day, and the Tizen project was also endorsed by Huawei recently. We've seen the typical grid of thumbnails when it comes to the gallery in early Tizen alphas, but things are apparently progressing as a new leak shows a revamped 3D interface there.

The thumbnail grid has stepped aside to make space for animated carousels with your photos and videos that can be swirled around, and the whole setup looks like a DNA spiral at times. Check it out in the video below.

probably not any time soon. decent chance that some of the features end up in Touchwiz on android though. I dont know how functional a spiral is, but its darn pretty and impressive looking

I actually wouldn't be surprised to see T-Mobile pick it up considering they are first adopters. It would be nice to have another OS option to shake things up other than Android and iOS. WP7 ain't doing much.

It'll probably not end up in mainstream at all,but would be nice as remixfa said to see elements of this appearing in touchwiz for android

One thing i realised by trying various phones,
Too much animation effects may look good at first but becomes headache soon
Simple is the most beautiful.

haha.. iPhone is too simple it becomes too boring..

i think the animation will be cool in the beginning, but hope that it can be turned off.. i don't really like the carousel in my HTC and i wish that it can be turned off..

I like it. I think what Tizen os doing now is to differentiate itself from other os. This is a good news for us consumers we have more choices of what kind of os we want to use. At least this is something new.
