The Galaxy S26 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max are already put to shame by the batteries of phones like the OnePlus 15, but an even more impressive device could be in the making. One brand is reportedly developing a battery that’ll be almost three times larger than those inside the leading flagship phones.
Honor could be working on a 14,000 mAh battery
One of the leading smartphone brands in reportedly developing a device with a 14,000 mAh battery. The information was shared (source in Chinese) by the prolific Weibo leaker Digital Chat Station who didn’t name the brand, but used an emoji that’s usually associated with Honor.
The upcoming phone is reportedly in the so-called new product introduction (NPI) stage of development, which means it hasn't passed validation. This means its launch is nowhere near and its specs could drastically change by the time it reaches the market.
What battery capacity would you like to have on your phone?
Honor is on a roll

What makes this rumor sound believable is Honor’s track record. The company was the first to introduce a phone with an 8,000 mAh battery when it launched the Honor Power in April 2025.
More recently, the company announced the X80 Pro Max, which packs not only an 11,000 mAh battery but also a 10,000-nit display. Of course, none of these will ever launch in the West, considering that even the Magic 8 Pro was limited to a 6,270 mAh battery in its European version.

What’s left for smartphone users in the US and Europe is to hope for the most popular brands to finally adapt the technology. Users on Reddit have already expressed the wish to see silicon-carbon batteries inside their Pixels, and some of them saying that non-Chinese phones don’t make sense.
Multiple-day battery life is here, just not for everyone
While Google, Apple, and Samsung barely cross the 5,000 mAh mark with their phones, the leading Chinese manufacturers have been offering larger batteries for years. Devices like the Vivo X300 Ultra and the Oppo Find X9 Pro pack 6,600 mAh and 7,500 mAh, respectively.
Unfortunately, these devices practically never make it to the US, and even their European releases are quite limited. That’s probably the only reason the leading brands feel comfortable lagging so far behind their Chinese competitors.
Excessive, but I still like the idea
Honestly, I don’t think I need or want a 14,000 mAh battery inside my smartphone. However, I’d love to see an iPhone or a Galaxy with about 8,000 mAh battery that could last me a weekend without limiting my use too much. I know that’ll remain a dream for the foreseeable future, but hope is all that’s left at this point.
