The raging memory cost crisis is pushing smartphone prices up, and even the iPhone 18 Pro is expected to be affected. Nothing isn’t spared as well, and the company has already scrapped the next CMF phone. However, a new leak suggests that the budget device may be reincarnated into the upcoming Phone (4b).
Nothing Phone (4b) specs leak in a benchmark
An unreleased Nothing smartphone appeared on Geekbench, revealing the specs of what’s most likely the upcoming Phone (4b). The device with model number A009P is powered by the Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 chipset and is paired with 8GB of RAM.
Unsurprisingly, the Geekbench score achieved by this phone is far from impressive. In the single-core test, the Phone (4b) got 1,088 points, while its multi-core score lands at 3,155.
How much do you plan to spend on your next smartphone?

While Nothing hasn’t mentioned any of the Phone (4b) specs, the Geekbench results fit it perfectly. The company announced that its B series will stand below its best-selling A line, and that’s where this benchmark score lands.
The specs are also in line with what would’ve been expected from a new device from Nothing’s budget brand CMF. The company recently announced it won’t launch a new CMF phone this year because of the memory price.

The news was met with mixed feelings from users. Some were sad to learn one of the most intriguing budget phones won’t get an upgrade, while others were more positive. One Reddit user said that more manufacturers should consider launching new phones every 2-3 years instead of annually.

However, many have speculated that the Phone (4b) was the cancelled new CMF phone, but using the Nothing brand because of the high price. The logic is that it would be better to start with a higher price instead of launching a CMF phone that’ll get multiple price hikes.
It’s all about the price
Judging the Nothing Phone (4b) without seeing what its final price will be is impossible. If the memory cost crisis wasn’t happening, these specs would’ve fitted a sun-$300 phone.
Now, this price is probably impossible. We’ll know for sure on July 7, but the $279 US price of the CMF Phone 2 Pro is certainly not going to be repeated.
Everyone’s loss
I’d love to blame Nothing for playing marketing games to grab some extra dollars from its customers, but that’s obviously not the case. Smartphone prices are going haywire and even a relatively popular smartphone brand has nothing to do against it.
