EXCLUSIVE: Verizon upcoming phones – 10MP Android, Storm 3, two tablets and more by the end of the year

September:
To start with, in September we should see a global-ready World Edition of the Motorola DROID 2, which will come in the same black/blue color scheme available now, as well as white. Yep, you heard that right – the first global Android smartphone is on the way!
The other interesting September launch will present us with the youth-oriented Motorola Citrus WX445 Android phone, which will probably impress more with an affordable price tag than features.
We'll also see a bunch of unpretending phones such as the LG Octane VN530 (touchscreen feature phone), LG VN270 (some kind of replacement to the Cosmos), Pantech Crux and ZTE Salute, both of which would be basic entry-level handsets looking for their place to call home in this smartphone-dominated world.
In addition, Verizon seems to be looking at extending its netbook lineup by adding the Dell Vostro V13 and HP Pavilion DM1-2010.
October:
Mid to late October is where it's supposed to get exciting, with a possible launch of the RIM BlackBerry Storm 3 9570. Interestingly, our source mentioned that the Storm3 will run BB OS 6, but will still feature a Sure Press touchscreen like the Storm2. That would be strange, given the Torch has made the move to the far more proven capacitive-only tech. The other surprise for BlackBerry fans will be the new Curve 3 9330.

There's more to be coming in October though, including the Motorola XT610. According to our info, this one will have screen similarly sized to the one of the DROID X, but the handset itself will feature less powerful specs (3.2 or 5MP camera and slower processor). On the other hand, it should be priced accordingly as a mid-range smartphone at $100-$130 on contract. We definitely like the idea of a more affordable 4.3-inch offering, but hope that its slower hardware won't hamper the experience... too much.
Another possible October launch would be the Motorola A957, possibly named Sick. We sure expect this to be one “sick” handset, if you know what we mean. However, further info is still unavailable on it. *UPDATE*: Our source has updated us with new info, going the so-called Sick would probably be no other handset but the Motorola DROID Pro.
Our source indicates that we might see the Palm Pre 2 doing its thing at this time, however, every bit of info regarding this possible successor seems to be held pretty tightly right now.
Finally, the Casio Ravine should come to refresh the line of PTT rugged phones of the carrier.
November:
As we venture later into the year, more and more exciting devices start to show up. Sometime during the second or third week of November, Big Red is said to push the Launch button for the enTourage eDGe (a dual-screen e-reader + tablet Android device), as well as an enTourage Pocket device.
Saving what's most interesting for last, the HTC Merge should emerge from the water carrying a 10MP camera and faster than 1GHz processor.
Tablet lovers and AT&T haters would surely jump with joy upon learning that two tablets are expected to become available on their favorite carrier, namely the Motorola Z600 (rumored to be called Stingray) and the Samsung I800, with the latter reportedly packing the bigger screen (about 10 inches). Unfortunately though, we do not have exact numbers right now.
Last but not least, the first 4G LTE cards will appear in the form of the PCD 290 and the LG 600.

So there you have it, folks! If this doesn't make your day, then you are no true cell phone fanatics! Now seriously, let us summarize the important launches that we learned about:
September: Motorola Citrus (affordable Android phone).
October: RIM BlackBerry Storm3, Samsung Fascinate, Motorola XT610 and Sick (DROID Pro), as well as Palm Pre 2.
November: HTC Merge, Motorola Z600 (tablet) and Samsung I800 (tablet).

If they are acctuallly gonna do an Iphone. That info is under lock and key and I am sure that anyone working on that projet has signed a waiver about not only being fired but also being sued for selling trade secrets. So dont expect to hear anything about an Iphone until you hear the CEO of verizon annoncing it himself.

Rumor has it that some VW assocaites have been advised to gear for an "iconic device" to be launched on VW in January, 2011 where the activations will far exceed those for the DROID X...

I guess I will come clean....I am the leak just like last year. I guess I have always been one of those kids that searches the house weeks in advance snooping to find my christmas presents. So since I get a backstage pass to new phones, I like to share it with a few thousand of my closest friends. To answer your question - no Iphone. But then again I am not nearly important enough to be involved in that decision making

Where is the Motorola Droid Pro? Or is that phone just the Droid 2 World phone? And if none of these devices will be LTE, and LTE devices will be launched just a few months later, why buy these devices?

Well for one, I like shiny metal objects... lol I'd like to see LTE soon, too. I'm not sure I want to be on the bleeding edge next summer.

I really can't understand how people don't get how networks test out their coverage. LTE will first roll out in aircards. Consider this a stress test for the market. Then the kinks get worked out, service is expanded, and then, and only then will phones come out with it. Sprint did the same thing with 4G- aircards first, phones later. Verizon wont have LTE on phones until at least next summer.

better graphics, better screen and many more things that comes the the samsung territory. Now by waiting till october when upgrades would be out on all carriers to 2.2. Who do you think would loose. I have seen the droid X and which to be is better than any other on verizon before fascinate comes out. Verizon have always been hard headed. I'm jumping ship if it doesn't come out next month. Just so you know It took Verizon 2years from when omnia 1 was released in Europe before they decided to let us have it.

People really dont realize the extensive testing process VZW actually puts all the phones through. The reason for these delays are normally because we ACTUALLY test the devices to make sure its ready for launch. Think about it all the phones you see that were leaked are just 2 types of people. Early leaks are normally the REPS/EMPLOYEES who were granted these test devices and thought it be cool to show off. (VZW Test devices MONTHS before it releases anything) The other type is people in marketing who think its cool to create some buzz before a release. The testers themselves are indeed normally regular Technical Reps that have to prove themselves to the company by performing in there numbers and being with the company for almost a year then APPLYING for the actually position without ANY additional pay(to prevent bias reviews). The Executives may get a few devices from time to time but they arent the main testers due to not only not having the time to actually having to time to write the reports needed to send to team that handles quality of releases but also because the jobs they have are TOO important to be messing with a "test" device that could fail at any time. If something is found to be wrong then an update must be created and loaded on to the device to make sure there arent any further problems then they RESTART the testing from day 1 to ensure the update didnt break anything else and then ANOTHER report must be filed and the cycle starts again this also isnt just vzw as the updates for PDA devices normally have to come directly from the vendor (RIM,Google,HTC ect.) that itself could be a month before they find and fix the issue/s when exceptions are done then you have the problems come out like the storm. that phone had over 4 updates before its launch date but with pressure mounting to release it in time they ignored the last reports launched it anyways and even though it sold, vzw and RIM's reputation was hurt in the process. not wanting that to EVER happen again EVERY device is tested and wont release despite launch times or it may not even launch at all (Nexus ?). so next time you think to complain just think do you want a quick launch of a glitched phone or do you want it to work first time.
