Verizon to start real time ordering of the Apple iPhone on 2/9; phone to be in stores on 2/10
Verizon customers have responded to the ability to pre-order the Apple iPhone with some record-breaking activity. With a lucky Verizon customer or two already using their new device as we reported, Big Red is moving ahead to the next phase of introducing the iPhone to its customers. Starting this Wednesday, February 9th, at 3am EST, Verizon will begin to accept real time orders for the Apple iPhone 4.

For those who would rather get the instant gratification of buying the iPhone and getting the handset immediately, the device is expected to be available at your local Verizon store on Thursday, February 10th starting at 7am local time. The handset costs $199.99 with a new 2 year contract for a 16GB model.

Very heady days indeed for Verizon customers who have waited so long for an Apple iPhone designed for Verizon's CDMA network. Still, the next level of Android flavored Superphone is not that far away and many savvy Big Red customers have to come to a decision between the Apple iPhone 4, a powerful dual-core device coming soon like the Motorola DROID BIONIC or the carrier's first 4G enabled device-the HTC Thunderbolt. As we reported, Best Buy has already started accepting pre-orders for the latter device which appears to have an on-contract price of $249.99 and could be launched as soon as February 14th.
