Something is brewing at T-Mobile, but no one knows exactly what. The sudden flurry of activity at the carrier suggests that a major announcement is coming next week.
There's heavy chatter among T-Mobile employees that June 29 could be monumental for the company. It's going to be an all-hands-on-deck day for call center staff, likely in anticipation of a flood of calls from customers.
Historically, T-Mobile has wanted everyone available ahead of customer-facing announcements, such as a price hike. This has led to speculation that T-Mobile is planning a rate increase and prepping for the inevitable customer backlash.
The company is even offering incentives to employees for putting in overtime and a $2 per call bonus to keep staff motivated.
The other prevailing theory is that many T-Mobile third-party retailers are shutting down on July 1. The closures are expected to divert traffic to T-Mobile-owned retailer (COR) locations and digital channels.
A previous rumor said that management has scheduled a meeting on Monday to map out the game plan for managing this sudden influx of traffic.
All hands on deck

Yeah this also happened with last price hike.

I wish I knew because my boss is even confused. But OT pay, $2 per call, and 25$ an hour on top of that.

Maybe just a store consolidation?

The instructions pertaining to Monday are allegedly not company-wide, which seems to imply they won't affect all customers.
Considering T-Mobile recently doubled global calling rates, a standard price hike is entirely on the table.
However, with AT&T and Verizon recently rolling out plans that offer more value, that wouldn't be a prudent move. Then again, T-Mobile still undercuts AT&T and Verizon, so perhaps it believes it has the leverage to get away with it.
With one more carrier bowing out of the market, the grip of the Big Three has never been stronger. Even SpaceX might not be able to break it.
Of course, the rumor mill could be entirely wrong. T-Mobile might just be planning to aggressively push its Visa Card, or perhaps it's finally ready to unveil a converged bundle.
What seems more likely, though, is that the announcement is going to affect customers, and likely not in a good way.
What is it going to be?
Could it be a price hike?
