Render of Nokia Lumia 929 leaks; large screened Windows Phone headed to Verizon
But as it turns out, on Saturday evleaks tweeted a render of the Nokia Lumia 929, which looks like front side of what we thought was the rear of the Lumia 1520 for Verizon. It is also a numerical follow-up to the carrier's exclusive Nokia Lumia 928. So what do we know about the Nokia Lumia 929? It will have a 20MP PureView snapper on back and it will have a screen resolution of 1080 x 1920. And because of the latter, the device will have to sport the GDR3 update. The screen appears to be smaller than the 6 inches that AT&T's Nokia Lumia 1520 will offer. Both models could see the light of day at the same time.
While the render is in black, the tweet from evleaks says it will be available in white as well. Expect a launch sometime before this year is through.

Wonder the size? If it's less than 6 inches then I can see people jumping on it.

Boring how❓... You've never owned a WP8 device... It's quite obvious..
WP8 has the most customizable start screen of any platform.. And, if you disagree with this then it proves you never owned a WP device, or know what WP is capable of... You probably get all your information from the usually WP haters around here,, not a good source. You should be smarter than that...

So how do I customize the background? Change the launcher?

Change the launcher into what? Another grid of square icons that just happen to act or look a little different? So it doesn't change the background. So what? Its not a feature I miss

So when microsoft lets you change the wallpaper, i should not be seeing you happy about it right?
Same with the old iPhone users, doesn't care about changing wallpaper, now look at it, iOS7 and it's effect that you can get for free from android Play Store

you can customize the back ground by going into settings and going into theme+wallpaper

I own a WP and owned an android as well but android offers way more customization than WP8 for sure..
WP sticks with 3 sized tile which we even cant configure different color for each individual tiles.(might change that soon).
But i prefer WP UI though... Its catches my eyes more and its alot more uniform.

you are so wrong there are many apps to create a new tile with any pictues or color and they fit on your screen well
24. LetsBeHonest (Posts: 847; Member since: 04 Jun 2013)
I mean there is no default option for that.
well if you're considering third party apps in this, then android has easily won because we can even make android to look like a WP 8 itself (launchers).

Technically that is correct. WP may not allow backgrounds yet (if ever), but it has the unique advantage of a semi-infinite main screen, something that android and ios (and Symbian) require multiple screens to accomplish, which require a separate loading function for each one, while WP just requires a short flick to scroll.

Im sorry...i cant beleive what you just said..."WP8 has the most customizable start screen"

"WP8 has the most customizable start screen of any platform"
you made me gag, what else are you going to tell me? iOS is the most open OS in the world?
You can't even change the wallpaper at the tile screen for christ sake
and yes i do own WP phones, 2 in fact, lumia 710 and 820

I have a 720 and yeah.. tiles all day gets a little boring.
so now it's my basic/feature phone for calls and sms (horrible keyboard which you can't change btw)
my nexus 4 however gets all the love: web browsing and youtube and everything the else.

Interesting! You say the tiles get boring but you mention the browser and everything else. Essentially making the tiles a non-factor. Interesting indeed.

I've never heard the WP keyboard described as "horrible" before. IOS? Yes, definitely, but not WP.

I would love a 6.5 inch Nokia Lumia windows phone.

Won't buy a phone with the Verizon logo on the front.

Does anyone else think that with W8 with more tiles like the one above is just a little too busy.
10. rodneyej1 (Posts: 3556; Member since: 06 Jul 2013)
It doesn't matter what we think because you don't have to have your screen configured this way... You can make your screen as clean as you like by using medium, and large tiles, or simply not use the space to the far left, or right at all... When you get a WP8 device you'll see that it has the most customizable start screen ever........
11. taz89 (Posts: 2014; Member since: 03 May 2011)
Oh no I got that you can organise how you want it etc. I guess I should have said having it set up like that seems very busy especially if you have lots of tiles flipping.

Did anyone notice the two-toned flash on the rear shooter? Dual flash by chance? And 20Mp sensor, too. My curiosity is tweaked. 1080p display?
Curiouser and curiouser.

Judging by size this looks to be a 5-5.5"-class screen, compared to the 6" screen on the 1520. If true, it makes sense, for better or worse, with AT&T getting the best WP, Verizon getting sloppy seconds, and hopefully a later release of the AT&T model on T-Mobile.
I attended a local Windows Phone meet-up today at our local Microsoft Store (inside a mall, and the Microsoft Store sas crowded while the apple store looked like a barren wasteland with a lonely employee minding the empty barriers set up for the nonexistent waiting lines for the apple store). The most excitement-filled conversation was on the upcoming GDR3 release and the hardware or would ship out on. Most were very likely to get the 1520 when it came out, even though most had a 920, 925, or 1020. We all felt sorry for the one guy on sprint using a Samsung ATIV S Neo, which is a good phone, but sprint refuses to fix visual voicemail for their WP8 models, ASN and the HTC 8XT. Us carrying the 920 and 925 were envious of the guy's 928's Xenon flash (also on the 1020s) but agreed it has the worst design of any Lumia yet released, including the 710.
