First WP Mango-powered smartphone to launch in August; is the update getting closer to launch?

That, of course, does not necessarily guarantee that Mango will start rolling out across the US as soon as next month, but it sure raises that possibility a bit. Judging by the other clues that we have so far, the next version of Microsoft's mobile platform will most probably be already available by the end of September.
In case you are wondering which is the smartphone presumed to be treated to Windows Phone Mango before any other device, it will be the candy-colored Fujitsu handset that we took a glimpse at not long ago. The smartphone is expected to hit the Japanese market by the end of next month and will be available through KDDI, one of the nation's major carriers.

Kind of a slap in the face to Nokia don't you think? Would think they would go first.

Agree. Thought Nokia would go first, and that here in the U.S. that HTC would have a good shot at being first Mango-flavored. Guess we will see.

The phone that is getting it first is a Japanese phone. I don't think its coming to america.
I would still assume that Nokia would be the first out of the gate with Mango here unless something happens, then it will probably be given to an HTC phone.

I realize this is a Japanese only release. Really, it is no big deal. It comes down to who puts out the best, and who gets front billing and I am sure it will be Nokia. HTC will gets lots of love as well. Just find it strange that a smaller, lesser known manufacterer gets first, that's all. Guess I should have stated I didn't think it was quite the "slap in the face" that myclevername did, just a little strange. I will take my thumbs down medicine.

Really it isn't and I wouldn't think or expect a nokia phone to be the first in the US with more WP7 phones comming this fall look for it to be a HTC phone. Nokia doesn't really have any WP7 phones comming out till next year. If this was 2012 then and they had one hitting the market at around the same time then I would say it was.

Not so sure about that. Nokia themselves has said that they will only have 1 model out in 2011 most likely and that it may be after the initial Mango release, so it's very possible it won't be the first phone (US or otherwise) to be released.

I think the first mango phone is going to be a fujitsu.

ya..this is way better..I remember when I first saw the older way of rating comments, I thought it was very stupid coz it doesnt show how many ppl agree/disagree with what you said.. it'll kinda help us know how many ppl are with android/iOS going by the number of greens and reds beside a comment..
Now bring on the OS wars ;)

I can't imagine the first mango phone not being released in America first. Its Microsoft home market and the market wp7 was released in first.
Also, Japan is far from even the second largest wp7 market. Then Again this is unofficial, even if it is true I would have to speculate a sooner release for the first American wp7.5 device.
Also, I don't see why mango wouldn't be released as an update for older phones at the same time as its debut on new phones. Its released through Zune and since there aren't skins for WP manufacturers shouldn't take that long to update their bloatware. It should be updated pre release allowing for a simultaneous, or near simultaneous launch through Zune. After all they get the golden masters, why would we have to wait?
