I doubt it will be released so soon. The 5.0 OS is a giant step above the 4.7 OS on the current Storm but it's not close to being ready for the big show and RIM isn't eager to garner any bad press for the new Storm as they did with the original.

what i love about this, is that they question the storm 2 comming out so soon. what they fail to remember is that the iphone has released 3 versions since its release of JUNE 2007. so 3 phones in 2 years, seems pretty fast, especially since they dont really improve THAT MUCH over the previous version. The only thing i want to know about the storm2 (i have the original and love it though im running a hybrid OS :) ), is will it cover the 1700mhz 3g spectrum (ala Tmobile). and btw, phone arena WHY THE HELL would they give people a price break? Apple doesnt, even though they release a new iphone every 9ish months it seems. (3 phones, 2 years, do math). As far as I can recall, NOONE gives a pricebreak for previous customers buying new devices.. and no, upgrade discounts from your provider dont count. Apple give you a pricebreak on your new macbook because you had an older one? Dell give you 50% off your new PC for returning customers? Ugh.

Lets not count our chickens before there hatched. Storm one had its release date changed a few times so lets be patient.
