Motorola Signature 27 vs Google Pixel 11 Pro XL: Main differences to expect
Motorola's upcoming Signature 27 might be on track to become the most interesting Android flagship phone out there.
This November 5, the Motorola Signature 27 is getting released, and it's a device that doesn't feel like your regular Motorola. Pretty much everything about it is known, and the highlights here are honestly inspiring.
We will get a Tandem OLED display that will feature very high brightness, the latest Snapdragon Elite Extreme Gen 6 chip, a 200 MP periscope camera, B&O audio, and GrapheneOS support. A pleasantly surprising selection of hardware features that definitely revitalizes my interest in Motorola's flagships.
Could that be enough to sway most people over from a regular Android flagship, like the Pixel 11 Pro XL?
While the latter comes with an exceptional camera, a lovely screen, and a premium design, but most importantly has arguably the cleanest interface on mobile, Google's persistent use of its underpowered Tensor chip. That one is, to me, the sole thing that's pulling the Pixel lineup back and preventing it from entering the mainstream as a properly equal rival to the iPhone and the Galaxy in the US.
Here's how the Signature 27 and the Pixel 11 Pro XL will most certainly compare.
Motorola Signature 27 vs Galaxy S26 Ultra expected differences:

Design and Size
The Signature 27 looks quite cool, but the Pixel feels more posh
The Motorola Signature 27's design has been revealed, and it's employing some key Motorola design aspects that we've seen before. There's a slightly curved rear, a flat frame, and two color versions with different textures that aim to improve the grip. The Olive color one gets a feathered-inspired finish (whatever that means), while the Cool Smoke version has a tactical weave finish.
But the most notable element here is the sloping camera plateau, which spans the whole upper rear of the device. I can't say it reminds me of an iPhone, but I also can't not say that.
The Pixel, on the other hand, hasn't scored any significant changes from the Pixel 10 Pro XL. That's not a bad thing at all, because the Pixel 10 Pro XL is still one of the most premium Android devices around, with an iPhone-like exterior that certainly feels that way.
It's a smart-looking device, albeit on the larger side, but I'd expect the Signature 27 to be no smaller. However, the exact Motorola Signature 27 dimensions are still a mystery, so how this new Motorola phone will stack up against the Pixel 11 Pro XL is still largely unknown.
The Motorola Signature 27 will come in Cool Smoke and Olive colors, each with a different texture. The Pixel 11 Pro XL, on the other hand, is available in Canyon, Olive, Fog, and Obsidian colors, which is a very similar color palette.
Display Differences
The Motorola Signature 27 will boast a 6.8-inch Extreme AMOLED Duo display, which uses a Tandem OLED technology. This means that there are essentially two OLED panes sandwiched against one another, maximizing peak brightness but also improving the efficiency here.
The maximum brightness might potentially reach 12,000 nits for a single pixel, which is impressive. The brightness with the whole panel illuminated will naturally be lower, but it still could breach a few thousand nits and beat most of its rivals, the Pixel 11 Pro XL included.
As per our in-house tests, the latter can achieve a peak brightness of 3,040 nits, which is superb. The Pixel 11 Pro XL has an excellent 6.8-inch OLED panel with a 120 Hz refresh rate. Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protects the screen here, and the colors are quite accurate, rounding up one excellent device screen.
Both devices will rely on ultrasonic fingerprint scanners. The Pixel 11 Pro XL also comes with a Class 3 face unlock, which is secure enough to authenticate payments with your face.
Performance and Software
No quarter for the Pixel 11 Pro XL
The Motorola Signature 27 will be among the first devices to feature Qualcomm's latest and most powerful chipset, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6. It's built on a 2 nm node and promises exceptional performance, though thermal management will likely be challenging with this dense manufacturing node. Motorola will alleviate that by employing a 40% larger vapor chamber, likely compared with the Motorola Signature.
And without the shadow of a doubt, the Pixel 11 Pro XL won't be able to prop up any serious competition performance-wise. That's because the Tensor is a traditionally underpowered chipset that usually fails to impress in synthetic benchmarks and when any serious gaming gets thrown in the mix. For general day-to-day usage, the Pixel 11 Pro XL is absolutely fine.
Both devices will share a common 12 GB of RAM in their base 256 GB versions. The Signature 27 will come with 512 GB and 1 TB versions, and both will likely feature 16 GB of RAM. That's identical to the Pixel 11 Pro XL, which employs the same storage versions.
The Signature 27 will arrive with Android 17, while the Pixel 11 Pro XL already enjoys this latest flavor of Android. The highlights here are App Bubbles, a boon for multitasking, as well as expanded customization.
The difference here is that the Signature 27 will support Graphene OS, a custom Android ROM that focuses on privacy.
Camera
Motorola's preparing an awesom
The Motorola Signature 27 will arrive with a 50 MP LYT-910 sensor in its main, wide camera, joined in forces by a 50 MP ultrawide, as well as an impressive 200 MP periscope telephoto. There's also another sensor in the back, one that will help capture photos without blur.
The Pixel 11 Pro XL comes with a 50 MP main, 48 MP ultrawide, and a 48 MP telephoto periscope with 5X optical zoom. It's among the very best camera phones available in the US right now, on par with any iPhone or Galaxy you might consider.
Battery Life and Charging
Motorola might have the upper hand
The Motorola Signature 27 will arrive with a 6,000 mAh silicon-carbon battery, which is a superb capacity for any modern flagship device. Paired with the efficiency of the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6, this one has all the potential to deliver better battery life than the Pixel, which didn't really impress us in the trio of PhoneArena battery tests.
The Google flagship, which comes with a 5,115 mAh battery on deck, lasted for a little over twelve hours in our web browsing test, nearly eleven and a half hours in our video playback test, and a little disappointing six hours and 18 minutes in our 3D gaming test. Not particularly inspiring.
Charging-wise, the Motorola Signature 27 will get fast 90W charging, while the Pixel 11 Pro XL charges at 45 W. Both get wireless charging: 25 W for the Pixel and 50 W proprietary for the Motorola.

Summary
Motorola's Signature 27 flagship is shaping up to be a slap in the face of Apple, Google, and Samsung in the US.
With proper high-end specs, a decent design language, and a promising camera setup, this one could become a very strong flagship alternative for the iPhones, Galaxies, and Pixels out there.
And one of the phones on the chopping edge could be the Pixel 11 Pro XL itself. While exemplar in many ways, the Pixel lineup still suffers from unimpressive performance and battery life, so the Motorola Signature 27 could very well be the near-stock Android alternative.
