UK carrier O2 is now giving customers prepaid digital Mastercards worth up to £400
Wouldn't it be great if someone could give you X amount of money to spend however you want? Well, actually, UK carrier O2 kind of does that. As the mobile operator announced in a new blog post, until February 1st, O2 customers can claim prepaid digital Mastercards worth up to £400 in the form of gift cards, which they can spend however they like. For example, the money can be spent on food, new gym wear, or even household bills.

The catch is that you can claim a gift card only if you purchase an eligible phone on a suitable mobile plan or if you get a specific SIM-only tariff.

For example, if you buy an iPhone 14 or an iPhone 13 on a 100GB+ plan, you will get a £100 prepaid digital Mastercard and three months of Apple Music. On the other hand, purchasing a Samsung Galaxy S22, S22 Ultra, Z Flip 4, or Z Fold 4 on a 20GB+ tariff will give you a £200 prepaid digital Mastercard. You can get a £400 gift card if, for example, you buy a Sony Xperia 1 IV on a 20GB+ tariff.

As for the SIM-only plans, you will receive a £100 prepaid digital Mastercard if you choose the Unlimited tariff and a £50 prepaid digital Mastercard if you get the 150GB or 250GB SIM-only plans.

The payment card will be issued 45 days after your purchase if you haven't canceled your service or returned your new phone. Within 14 days of your purchase, you will receive an email and SMS explaining how to get your digital prepaid MasterCard. You will have 30 days from receiving the instructions to claim your card and 90 days to activate it.
