LG G4 unboxing pictures leak out hours before announcement
A series of photos depicting the LG G4 in its retail box have popped up hours before announcement, showing both the plastic back and leather back models. This seems to be the Korean version of the handset, judging from the two batteries in the box, and the LTE Advanced logo on the back, but you can still get a pretty glimpse how the phone will look like when it gets revealed later today, and what will go in the box.

Besides the phone, the LG Quad Beat headphones can be seen as well, and hopefully these will be included with each and every version of the handset, not only with the leather-clad ones.

The LG G4 should have a 5.5" screen with resolution of 1440 x 2560, a 64-bit Snapdragon 808 chipset, 3 GB of RAM would be on board, and there will be a microSD slot on the unit for those who need expandable storage. Back and front-facing cameras have been confirmed by LG as weighing in at 16MP (with an aperture of f/1.8) and 8 MP, respectively. A 3000mAh battery powers the whole device, and the LG flagship should come with Android 5.0, painted over with the latest LG UX 4.0 overlay.

Snapdragon 808 is a big disappointment.

Why ? Do you need S810 just to get higher Antutu score ?

The issue is the gpu that comes with the 808 and the massive resolution of the G4. It will not be ideal with demanding games.

there are no games on Android that take advantage of those GPUs... so it's no big deal and im sure due to lower running temperature the 808 can be clocked higher than 810

You do realise what high resolution does to a gpu? Any idea about lower memory bandwidth on the 808? No I guessed you have no idea.

Well how about this, Martin. How about you go ahead and explain, PRECISELY what high resolution does to a GPU for us. Please, I'm intrigude at how a company such as LG who has a TEAM of research and devlopement has gone so wrong here. I would really like to know, I've made an account here to ask this *&% question.

It will still be better than SD801 on my previous G3.

Weaker GPU and half the memory bandwidth compared to the 810 and 805 Might be a problem since its QHD Like how the 801 had issues with QHD on the G3 But too early to know for sure

SD801 has problems with QHD? well, I havent seen any problem on xplay 3s yet. I believe sd801 is just fine for QHD, so does SD808

Why? Because the price they intend to charge says so.

Yep, I would have used a snapdragon 805.

How the hell you know that ??!! There is no phone made yet with 808 onboard, and still you already know it is a disappointment ? Meh, I guess you use an iPhone and only thing that matters to you is stupid Antutu score. I'm sure they had a point using it instead 810 they put already on Flex 2. They would NEVER put a bad chip on flagship....

The phone has a freaking QHD resolution. Learn how gpu works with that kind of resolution and what memory bandwidth is. Also S6 has a much better gpu than the 808 has when you compare the specs. Hens its huge resolution works fine.

Oh yes, we all know that Samsung did extremely well job and beat 810, but let me remind you... G3 worked really well ! Yes, it was lagging from time to time, but it had no "freeze" and never reboot by itself. I can assure you, G4 will be working perfectly fine with 808

The games are just upscaled so it won't be a big issue with that even with a smaller memory bandwith. Yes the chip may be no as good as 810 on paper but that doesn't mean anything in real life. Software is the main issue and if this is perfectly adjusted to the hardware specs everything is fine. The apps and games don't bother me as none of them really challenges the actual hardware

I completely agree Oh and have you ever thought about being a wrapper...."They would NEVER put a bad chip on flagship" nice

everyfanboys want their favorite phone to be on the top. so its normal for others to call g4 ugly. but one thing they can't argue with is that g4 's back cover is removable and there are two options. if you got bored on the leather you can simply replace it with a new one with different colours or design for different occasions which they can't do for their phone.

I gotta admit, i thought LG would've done more with this phone. The LG G3 already had a 3000 mah battery and 3gb of ram, also it had a 5.5 inch screen. So basically they put a slight curve to it, improved the camera and added headphones. I have high hopes for LG and i hope they don't make the same mistakes that Samsung has made after they launched the Galaxy S3.

Why you rather have a over heat issues with the 810? I'd rather not

I agree, the default plastic looks very tacky and cheap, that hexagonal pattern doesn't do it any favors. The leather back is straight out of a phone case you find at rinky dink cellphone shops in Chinatown.

Leather only looks good when it's you use quality stuff. Cheap out with mass produced stuff and you achieve the opposite. Cheap stuff will also continue to look worse as it wears out over the years (or even rip).

As i was saying, quality of those pictures, doesn't help either. Maybe it will be much more pleasing during announcement.

I kinda agree. kinda dont. I can defintey seee your reasoning behind it.... who would thnik to use leather for a electronic device? Wouldn't you use a solid plastic/metal? At the same time though, who would thnik to use leather for a device? Leather couches are more expensive and a higher status then other materials
