The phone carries model number SM-S741 and features a revised camera island where the lenses are clustered together – closer in style to the Galaxy S26 than previous FE generations. The island sits near the top edge and side of the back panel.

The colors are now better defined thanks to a case leak from Android Headlines. Clear magnetic cases reveal two of the shades through the transparent material: a deep purple that may carry the Cobalt Violet name – matching the Galaxy S26 and S26 Plus – and a light green likely to be called Aqua Green or Mint.

One longstanding FE characteristic worth noting: Galaxy S FE models have historically run slightly larger than their flagship counterparts even when screen sizes match. Expect the S26 FE to be a touch bigger than the Galaxy S26 Plus despite sharing the same 6.7-inch display.
Galaxy S26 FE display
The display is not changing for the S26 FE. A 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel with HDR support and up to 120Hz refresh rate is expected – the same combination Samsung has used across the past two FE generations.

A brightness increase is possible but hasn't surfaced in any leaks so far.
Samsung may also be shifting to Chinese display maker CSOT for OLED panels on its budget and mid-range devices. Previously, Samsung Display was the sole supplier for Galaxy phone panels.
According to one report, the South Korean tech giant has ordered around 15 million displays from CSOT. Some are reportedly destined for the Galaxy A57, with others going to the Galaxy S26 FE.
CSOT panels are said to cost around 20% less than equivalent Samsung Display units – a reasonable question about whether that translates to any quality difference. No evidence of a drop has emerged yet, but it's worth monitoring once reviews arrive.
Galaxy S26 FE battery
No specific battery figures have leaked for the S26 FE, but Samsung's FE track record makes the direction fairly clear.
The S23 FE shipped with 4,500mAh, the S24 FE stepped up to 4,700mAh, and the S25 FE reached 4,900mAh. Following that roughly 200mAh-per-generation cadence, the S26 FE should arrive at around 5,100mAh.

The 45W figure has since been independently confirmed through a UL Solutions (Demko) certification listing, which shows two charging configurations across multiple S26 FE model numbers – 15V at 3A and 10V at 4.5A, both equaling 45W. That puts the S26 FE ahead of the base Galaxy S26 on wired charging speed, which is a meaningful value advantage at its price point.
Galaxy S26 FE features and software
A recent rumor indicates the Galaxy S26 FE will debut with One UI 9 based on Android 17. The US variant was spotted running One UI 9 on Samsung's test servers, suggesting it will arrive with that software out of the box rather than requiring an update.
Seven years of software support is expected, consistent with Samsung's current policy across its lineup.
Galaxy AI will be a central part of the experience, as it has been since the S24 FE. The S25 FE shipped with Circle to Search and a full Galaxy AI suite including Photo Assist, Drawing Assist, Audio Eraser, and Note Assist.
The S26 series added natural language understanding for Bixby and the ability to set Gemini or Perplexity as the default assistant – both improvements are expected to carry over to the S26 FE.

The same Geekbench listing confirms 8GB of RAM – another area where the S26 FE trails the standard S26, which ships with 12GB. That gap becomes more relevant as AI features grow increasingly memory-dependent.

Should I wait for the Galaxy S26 FE?
- You should wait for the Galaxy S26 FE if you're coming from an older upper-mid-range device like the Galaxy S23 FE or an A-series phone and want a meaningful performance upgrade without stretching to full flagship pricing. The phone has already been spotted running One UI 9 on Android 17 in testing, so you'll get Samsung's latest software and the full natural-language Galaxy AI suite from day one – no waiting on an OTA update.
- You should not wait for the Galaxy S26 FE if you're already on a strong 2025 device or photography is your main priority. The camera hardware is a straight carry-over from the S25 FE – same 50MP main, same 8MP telephoto, same ultra-wide – making this one of the more straightforward spec hold-overs in recent FE history.
