This incredibly detailed new Galaxy S26 FE leak leaves even fewer questions unanswered

Samsung's next Fan Edition phone is pretty much an open book thanks to some newly leaked images and specs.

Unless you're the most casual mobile industry watcher out there, it was fairly easy to anticipate that Samsung would release a new Fan Edition handset this fall... and that its design and specs would be largely "inspired" by last year's Galaxy S25 FE.

But until today, you may have retained some semblance of hope that the Galaxy S26 FE would change... something important about its predecessor, which I'm afraid the latest product sightings and reports across the web are quashing for good.

This spec sheet looks awfully familiar

  • 6.7-inch FHD+ screen with 120Hz refresh rate technology;
  • Deca-core 3nm-based Samsung Exynos 2500 processor;
  • 50MP primary rear-facing camera;
  • 12MP secondary ultra-wide-angle lens;
  • 8MP telephoto sensor;
  • 12MP front-facing camera;
  • 4,900mAh battery;
  • 45W Super Fast Charging 2.0 capabilities;
  • Seven guaranteed OS upgrades and seven years of security patches;
  • IP68 water and dust resistance;
  • Gorilla Glass Victus+ screen protection;
  • 161.6 x 76.9 x 7.4mm dimensions;
  • Blueberry, Graphite, and Pistachio color options.

Obviously, none of the above information is (technically) etched in stone yet. But all these details come from a super-trustworthy source, some of them are even supported by leaked promotional images that are unlikely to be doctored or fake, and many were corroborated by an equally reputable publication just last week.

In other words, I have almost zero doubt that the Galaxy S26 FE will look virtually identical to the S25 FE on the outside, sporting an unchanged display, the same old battery capacity and (arguably zippy) charging technology, same old camera hardware, and... a newer and faster chipset.

Yes, the (relatively) powerful and undoubtedly energy-efficient Exynos 2500 SoC should prove to be the S26 FE's (predictable) key upgrade, along with a new OS version and some fancy (sounding) colorways.

How will Samsung market the Galaxy S26 FE?

That's probably not something you typically think about too much when a new high-end handset comes out, but given just how similar this thing looks to the Galaxy S25 FE at a first (and second, and third) glance, I'm definitely curious to see Samsung try to hype up its (largely non-existent) strengths.

Based on more than two dozen promo pics leaked by Android Headlines today, the world's number two smartphone vendor will mainly focus on some neat new Galaxy AI-enabled camera tricks... that the rest of the Galaxy S26 family obviously also supports, as well as the S26 FE's stellar long-term software support, excellent battery life (up to 29 hours of continuous video playback), durable construction, and a pretty hilarious comparison with... the Galaxy S21 FE and Galaxy A53.

If the Galaxy S26 FE costs more without offering many upgrades, what would you do?

The point of that, of course, is to highlight the advances of Samsung's designs over the years (especially in the overall thickness and screen bezel departments), but just like in virtually all other areas, everything worth praising about the Galaxy S26 FE is also true for the S25 FE.

Does all that mean the S26 FE is DOA?

Not necessarily, or at least, not yet. Not until those recently rumored prices also pan out. But if the Galaxy S26 Fan Edition does end up costing $699 (or more) in the US in an entry-level configuration with 128GB internal storage space and 8GB RAM, it's definitely hard to defend its value proposition and recommend a purchase over... the Galaxy S25 FE.

Naturally, the S25 FE is likely to be discontinued soon, but until that happens, you might want to consider picking it up if you can find it at a nice discount of $100 or $150. If not, the Galaxy S26 and even the Galaxy S26 Plus are also great options, especially at their newly reduced prices.

And then you have Google's Pixel 10a, which is arguably a little humbler but also a lot cheaper, and the "vanilla" Pixel 10... if you can get it at a low enough price. Bottom line, there are plenty of interesting budget 5G phones to consider this fall before settling for an overpriced and instantly forgettable new addition to the Galaxy S26 family that frankly shouldn't exist... at least in this mediocre form.
