Expected release timeline:

Galaxy A38 and A58 release date

  • No official date has been rumored just yet. The current expectations point to either a March or April 2027 announcement

*Probable dates

Samsung has kept a consistent early-spring launch window for its Galaxy A mid-rangers for two consecutive years. A March announcement and April availability is the working assumption for 2027.

Galaxy A38 and A58 prices

  • A58 rumored at $649-$699, which, if true, would be too similar to the Galaxy S26 FE's $699 launch price
  • A38's price is still unknown, but may come with around a $50 price hike

*- anticipated prices

Samsung raised the prices of the Galaxy A37 and A57 a couple of months after their launch. If rumors are true and another price hike is on the way, the phones may start losing their mid-range appeal.

Galaxy A38 and A58 camera

  • Camera hardware on both may remain unchanged – 50MP main, 8MP ultra-wide, 5MP macro expected
  • No new camera features leaked yet

The camera situation on both phones is reportedly going to be disappointing with the same setup expected as their predecessors.

In our Galaxy A57 review, we found the camera "just average", still capable but not something extraordinary.

On the software side, the A37 and A57 did get updates, with Advanced Portrait on the A37 and blur-free zoom transitions and low-noise model on the A57.

Potentially, Samsung will introduce some software updates to the A38 and A58, but what those could be is still unknown.

Galaxy A37 and A57 camera setup (reference):
  • 50MP main camera
  • 8MP ultra-wide
  • 5MP macro
  • 12MP front camera (A37); 50MP front camera (A57)

Galaxy A38 and A58 storage

  • 128GB / 256GB expected, matching A37 and A57

The Pixel 11 Pro dropped the 128GB base tier, starting at 256GB – a long-overdue change.

The A37 and A57 offered 128GB and 256GB options, with 8GB of RAM across both and a 12GB RAM option on the A57.

That structure is expected to return with their successors. The microSD slot has been gone since the A36 and A56, and there's no indication it's coming back.

Expected storage options (both models):
  • 128GB
  • 256GB

Galaxy A38 and A58 design

  • No design leaks yet
  • Major redesign is unlikely for both models

With the Galaxy A57, Samsung brought a slight redesign, making the phone slimmer at 6.9 mm and 19 grams lighter. We don't expect a dramatic visual change on the A58 or the A38.

Both phones are expected to keep IP68 water and dust resistance, the glossy glass finish, and the translucent Ambient Island camera housing introduced on the A37 and A57.

Galaxy A38 and A58 display

  • 6.7-inch Super AMOLED at 120 Hz expected on both, matching A37 and A57
  • A58 may again come with the Enhanced Vision Booster from the A57, and the A38 may get it this time around

* - anticipated sizes and specs

Both the Galaxy A37 and the Galaxy A57 comes with a 6.7-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED displays with 120 Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 1,900 nits.

At this time, an upgrade is not expected for either the A38 or the A58. Potentially, the A38 may get the Enhanced Vision Booster that the A57 introduced.

    Galaxy A38 and A58 battery

    • Galaxy A38: 6,000mAh battery cell is expected, which is up 20% from A37's 5,000mAh, not a silicon-carbon cell though
    • Galaxy A58: 6,000mAh likely, expected to match A38
    • 45W charging coming to the Galaxy A58 according to a 3C certification

Reportedly, both phones are getting a significant bump in battery sizes. The Galaxy A38 may get a 6,000 mAh cell, which would be a 20% jump from its predecessor and would be the largest ever fitted in a Galaxy A phone sold in Europe.

The A58 is likely to get a similar cell.

Meanwhile, charging for the Galaxy A58 may remain at 45 W wired, according to recently leaked certification documents.

Galaxy A38 and A58 features and software

    • Android 17 and One UI 9 expected at launch, possibly even Android 18 if the models' launch slips to late March
    • Samsung offers 6 years of software updates on Galaxy A phones

The A37 and A57 launched with Android 16 and One UI 8.5.

Android 17 and One UI 9 is the most likely OS that's going to come with the Galaxy A38 and A58 models.

The A37 and A57 came with new Awesome Intelligence features, the mid-range version of Galaxy AI, and got Circle to Search, AI Voice Recorder with transcription and translation, AI Select, and Object Eraser.

Those are expected to return to their successors, with possible additions from One UI 9’s expanded Galaxy AI suite.

Six years of software updates are expected on the two models.

Galaxy A38 and A58 hardware and specs

    • A58 expected to get a new Exynos, following the yearly pattern
    • A38's chip is less clear — Samsung has switched between Snapdragon and Exynos on the A3x line
    • 45W wired charging confirmed on A58
    • No wireless charging expected

No chip has leaked just yet for the Galaxy A58.

Samsung's pattern on the A5x line is to introduce a new Exynos each year: the A55 had the Exynos 1480, the A56 the Exynos 1580, and the A57 the Exynos 1680.

The Galaxy A58 is therefore likely to get a new Exynos, though the name and specs are unknown.

Meanwhile, the Exynos 1680 was a modest revision of the 1580 rather than a big leap. It kept the 4nm process and near-identical clock speeds, and added a new Xclipse 550 GPU, a 1+4+3 core layout and Bluetooth 6.1. Expect similar incremental changes.

The Galaxy A38's processor is harder to predict. The A36 launched with a Snapdragon 6 Gen 3, and the A37 went back to the Exynos 1480, an older chip last seen in the A55. So the A38 could reuse that chip, move up to a newer Exynos, or switch back to Snapdragon.

Should you wait for the Galaxy A38 or A58?

You should wait for the Galaxy A38 and A58 if battery life is a top priority for you. Both phones are expected to get a 6,000mAh cell, which would be a big improvement for both. If battery life matters more to you than camera quality, both phones are worth waiting for. Just keep an eye on the pricing, as the the A58 has been rumored at $649-$699, which would put it in direct competition with the Galaxy S26 FE.

You should not wait for the Galaxy A38 and A58 if the camera matters most to you. Both phones are expected to come with the same 50MP main, 8MP ultra-wide and 5MP macro setup for a third consecutive generation. Rising prices are another reason not to wait: at $649 or more, the A58 narrows the gap with the Galaxy S26, which has a better camera system and a Snapdragon chip. The A37 and A57 are available now, often found at discounted prices on top of that.
