Verizon releases Android 2.1 update info for Motorola DROID
We're not sure what it means in terms of timing, but Verizon has just posted a PDF listing improvements that will take place in the Motorola DROID after the Android 2.1 update. The page, entitled "Get the most out of your DROID by Motorola" shows some of the most anticipated changes like "pinch-to-zoom" in the browser and gallery, voice to text-box entry on all boxes-not just Google, the new gallery application, live animated Wallpaper, support for Yahoo mail, no need to re-enter email accounts after OTA update, improved audio after plugging out a wired headset and an improved Google Maps. No word in when this finally gets sent out to the impatient DROID owners, but for them, it can't be soon enough.

11. jherz6 posted on 17 Mar 2010, 03:32

Ya really who wants to use a wired headset anymore?

12. owuaarontsi posted on 17 Mar 2010, 06:34

i use one at work to listen to music or watch videos... The headphones I use have a connection problem and sometimes will force the phone to go to the music app even if im watching a movie... also, after using headphones, the phone won't play audio through the speaker on a call unless its on speakerphone.... hopefully this update fixes all that.

When I go snowboarding I use a wired headset. Bluetooth batteries don't last for 6 hours of constant use, plus 6 hours of bluetooth on will kill the phone battery too. I prefer my Skull Candy earphones to ANYTHING that any bluetooth headset manufacturer puts out.

Battery improvement was mentioned before, just because it isn't mentioned in this article doesn't mean it won't happen. I'm sure if there was any room for battery improvement they will include that as well. We'll just have to wait and see.

aHome and Panda are cool but they can slow down the phone a bit... but big woop..wanna fight about it?

VZW update ur obsolete CDMA network first, then pimp out ur phones...!!!!

10. jherz6 posted on 17 Mar 2010, 03:31

first of all cdma is alot better to me than gsm its a bit more stable and hella less dropped calls can AT&T say that? Nope.

13. scottmbolt (unregistered) posted on 17 Mar 2010, 06:48

LMAO ... CDMA obsolete? CDMA penetrates walls better, and gives people better reception indoors. GSM is actually quite unstable.

15. VZWEMP posted on 17 Mar 2010, 07:06

once again someone who doesnt understand mobile technology...cdma is in no way obsolete. just because wordwide cdma isnt as popular doesnt mean its obsolete. if youre going to look at it that way world hunger seems pretty popular right now.....does that mean eating is obsolete?

17. Trobes05 posted on 17 Mar 2010, 07:40

Don't forget that it takes 3 GSM towers to equal one CDMA tower.

21. VZWtrainer posted on 17 Mar 2010, 12:34

CDMA is obsolete huh? Is that why the CDMA carriers ALWAYS are rated higher in receptoin? Look at the last JD Power survey. Verizon won 5 out of 6 regions and US Cellular (CDMA) won the 6th.

23. DOGIEFRESH posted on 17 Mar 2010, 19:20

Yeahhh right, fanboys refuse recognize, tell me how much CDMA has evolved in compares to HSPA....??? tell me how faster is it agaist HSPA....??? Can you do voice and data....??? Of course you don't that's to much tech for y'all americans and who can trust JD power when they name a ford taurus the best car against the camry and accord, they will always put the american brands on top of better non american....so who are you trying to fool...???

24. DOGIEFRESH posted on 17 Mar 2010, 19:26

Is not popular matter fanboy, is a fact, HSPA is more widely deployed cuz is much better simple, u got to ask the Canadian why they dump CDMA and let me tell ya is not because of the iphone...!!! Is all of you against the world, everybody look at you as a big all moroms....!!!!

25. zuno gyakusatsu posted on 18 Mar 2010, 12:30

"Is all of you against the world, everybody look at you as a big all moroms....!!!" well, we may be moroms, whatever that is, but you sir, are a moron. yes, gsm is better than cdma just because you can use data and voice at the same time....that makes sense. a feature that i and many other people have never needed. boy my life will never be the same. how will i ever sleep at night?
