Picture of the DROID 2 R2-D2 model is leaked

Last night, we reported to you that the limited edition Motorola DROID 2 "Star Wars Empire Strikes Back Special Edition Phone" would be made available only through online sales when it launches on September 30th. Unfortunately, we did not have a picture to show you what the handset might look like although Verizon did say that they would preview the phone during Thursday's Star Wars Celebration V in Orlando. One convention attendee was able to snap a picture of the back of the R2-D2 DROID 2 and it is quite obvious what the inspiration was for the design. If Big Red keeps its word, we should have more pictures tomorrow and maybe an idea about the price. Now how about that Chewbacca ring tone?

Personally, i agree completely with you. Why don't you just walk around with a phone with "NERD and I live with my Mom"written on the back. Not cool. Or appealing.

I have to disagree with you. This is not "gay". Gay people typically have a sense of style and creating a visual appeal. _ This is just plain sad. If this is the real deal, then they really screwed the pooch on something that they had a chance to knock out of the park with.

I agree its a little "goddy" but for Star Wars fans its right on. That's why its limited edition though, they know they'll sell out and every Fanboy will have his day. (dating the creation of the word) but definitely not for me.

Yea would definitely be a collectors item but then i have to think would i really want a cell phone JUST as a collector's item? Probably not...unless it was given to me.

Its Star wars!!!! Im going to tell you the same thing everyone says about the iphone. IF YOU DON"T LIKE IT, THEN DONT READ THE STORY! It will sell out in no time. Besides, be glad they picked Star Wars, would you rather have a DROID phone or maybe they could have made the google os the ring, or potter line.

Please, please say that this isn't the real R2D2 phone, Verizon! Please tell me that your product development team isn't this aesthetically blind! I know that Lucasfilms would have its input before they would sign off on a concept, but please tell me that THIS isn't the final product. You have a chance to produce something that is actually memorable, unlike that Dark Knight phone fiasco. Please don't screw it up this badly.
