I love the design! I think, I will have 2 flagship phones this year! LG and Sony thank you!

I wish I could trade the QHD display for a 1080p display AND front facing stereo speakers.

LG is getting better n better. Less bezel, improving camera n screen, creating powerful phone.

Wah! Thats a nice design mockup... I hope LG will see this mockup and follow it... I feel, QHD from lg will be nice as lg always has nice displays

hope they'll make a trend for smaller handset w/ a specs of their flagships, not too small not too big, just enough for using your phone with your one hand. because that's the purpose of the phone. apple still sells because they don't have competition with that category, and if you say they are making bigger screen, well, they just want to catch-up or compete with phablet category. 5inch is big enough to operate it with one hand, i hope there will be standard 4.5-.7" flagships, but i think it is just a dream for me.

That design looks great
But IMO would look much better if they made them both symmetrical and very small, instead a big bottom bezel and then tiny other bezels
Also IMO its more important that the bottom bezel is small, because then you don't have to stretch as much to reach the top of the screen (e.g. for notifications)
Hopefully the G3 (especially since its rumored to have 5.5" screen) and Nexus 5 (2014) have similar designs with tiny bezels
32. DocOc (Posts: 138; Member since: 23 Apr 2014)
You have to have some bezel. Where are you going to put the ear piece and mouth piece if there is no bezel. And you need speakers...
58. SuperMaoriBro (Posts: 348; Member since: 23 Jun 2012)
What sort or mutant hand do u have? Like any normal person my thumb swipes in from the side of the screen not from the bottom, hence why thin side bezels are more functional than thin bottom bezels
71. Kamehameha (Posts: 44; Member since: 21 Apr 2014)
Tell that to HTC.. Smaller vertical bezels help in reducing overall phone size. Plus they look great.
Oh and to pull down the notification tray, you do have to swipe from the top of the phone to the bottom, which is quite difficult on a phone this large.

Strong design look, I like.
I don't believe current speculation on soc,
If it(805) doesn't come in the G3 an N6, that leaves only what, the Note4 to pack it this year.
Sure as heck won't wind up in any WP phone, so is qualcomm going to take a hit on sales of the higher soc this year, I doubt that too.
The big Chinese variants are going MT, an lower ones with HiSilicon.
LG always uses top soc on flagship, though things could change I guess.
As the 801 alone is not enough of a upgrade over the 800 that would hurt new model sales.
68. Beijendorf (Posts: 327; Member since: 27 Aug 2013)
I think you underestimate just how many autumn flagships are in the works. Not only the Note 4, but the Prime-models and all the Chinese OEMs. And I wouldn't rule out a S805-carrying WP-flagship with Microsoft at the helm.

Stop showing that ugly ass phone it's an insult to the G3. If it looks anything like that it won't sell too well. Koreans get some ugly ass phones lol. LG is going to blow the minds that Samsung and HTC failed to

Not so concern about the aesthetics, as much as I'm concern about the software. Purchased two G2, and both had to returned to glitches and bugs; Moto X ended up being the replacement device of choice.
***edit funny thing, my L9 is a great device, with one the best voice quality, ever.
11. wargreymon (Posts: 181; Member since: 05 Nov 2013)
If you take the "leaked" AnTuTu picture and then a picture of a G Pro 2 and adjust you see that they have pretty much identical bezel size and such, so Im calling that "leak" a fake. If the person wanted to put up a trusted picture, why not show the whole front so we could see its not any other phone?
Still betting my money on a SD805.

Picked this phone up the day it was released, and hands down the best Android phone I have used and I have had most high end androids. My wife wants to put me in therapy. This phone has the best screen I have had the pleasure to use. The color calibration is WOW, the Battery last me all day still amazed with that .My DNA can't pass up a charge. My only complaint is the button placement on the back. I have the Verizon model and the buttons are to flat to get a good feel, guess they did that for wireless charging? This is just my 2 cents but will first in line to pick up G3

Or maybe Samsung make one of the best smartphone on the planet.
That's totally subjective but my imprecision is that Samsung deliver when it come to reality which LG doesn't quite often. (G2 owner)
Like always, irrelevant hate on Samsung, but of course people love underdogs like LG.

Finally someone who agrees with me!! Thanks!!!

Sure, the hardware is going to be killer but why sticking to LG when they're terrible when it comes to software updates? Look at the Optimus G it's still stuck on 4.1.1 after a year and a half later. I doubt the G2 is even getting 4.4.3 when the G3 is out
25. fzacek (Posts: 2215; Member since: 26 Jan 2014)
The G2 already has 4.4.3, but IMO the software updates don't even matter because the UI is just so bad and quite laggy. I'd just install CyanogenMod or something anyway.
29. guidoconrad (Posts: 15; Member since: 19 Nov 2012)
There is no 4.4.3 out yet. The last update was 4.4.2 and it sure got it, the phone released with 4.3 so one update is assured. The Optimus G shipped with 4.0 and made it to 4.1 before they left it in the dark. The G2 is probably not getting much support once the G3 is out. One update and that's it. That's a dealbreaker for me
59. 3rdDegree (Posts: 171; Member since: 13 Jul 2013)
The UI is one of the most fluid I've ever used. You're an idiot
22. zachattack (Posts: 590; Member since: 31 Jul 2013)
Software update is a null argument. It's pretty much proven that updates are worse than just staying on the older version. Bugs that drain battery and other misfortunes. I'll stick with 4.3 thank you very much. All new phones are pretty much 4.4 standard anyway. OH WAIT, KEY LIME PIE lul!
30. guidoconrad (Posts: 15; Member since: 19 Nov 2012)
Not really, my HTC M7 is doing fantastic on 4.4.2. Battery life is even better than it was when the phone come out. There are no bugs either. Samsung's updates are the ones that makes the phone worse. I speak for the Galaxy S3's updates. They ruined my phone
23. Taters (Posts: 3598; Member since: 28 Jan 2013)
5.5 is too big.
Come out with a 5 inch QHD screen with no side bezels and symmetrical top and bottom bezels at the size of a 4.5 inch screen phone and I'll buy two.
24. fzacek (Posts: 2215; Member since: 26 Jan 2014)
+1, 5.5" is definitely too big, they should have stuck around 5.2" which was perfect last year...
27. Taters (Posts: 3598; Member since: 28 Jan 2013)
I think 5 inches and make the G2 even smaller would have been better. I don't like the 5.1 or 5.2 Sony, LG, and Samsung came up with.
Google knows which is why they went with a 4.95 inch display for the Nexus 5 rather than the 5.2 inch one used in the G2. I would have been WAY less happy with my Nexus 5 if it used a 5.2 inch screen.
39. refillable (Posts: 673; Member since: 10 Mar 2014)
Well the G2 and the S4 fits perfectly on my 8.5 sized hand. I do not see why would it be not comfortable to you? Btw 5.5" is going to be uncomfortable still. The G2 is IMHO the max size for something that can be called as a 'phone'.
42. cthunder (Posts: 104; Member since: 02 Nov 2010)
I hear ya. Maybe they will come outwith a mini LG G3 with a 4.9 or 5.0 display.
50. LGisgood (Posts: 471; Member since: 23 Jun 2012)
G3's 5.5 screen vs 5.2'' screen xperia phones.
LG G3 is still smaller phone than xperia z1. or z2, or HTC M8.
61. 3rdDegree (Posts: 171; Member since: 13 Jul 2013)
That's the problem, they haven't made one of that size yet.
26. TechDork (Posts: 244; Member since: 10 May 2010)
I swear, smart phones are coming out left & right. You don't know whether to buy a phone now or not xD The G2 JUST came out a couple months ago, geez!
28. bobbh8 (Posts: 1; Member since: 16 Apr 2014)
I do hope that LG really wants to stand out in all aspect and phase, therefore the Snapdragon 805 is now on the market and offers a little more in graphics and is able to produce 64 instead of 32. Thus I recommend go for the Snapdragon 805 and be really the first smartphone out there.
74. redmd (Posts: 909; Member since: 26 Oct 2011)
I think the Z3 or the Note4 will get the 805 first. I'm not sure with the Prime though. But I prefer more battery capacity than CPU improvements.

What's up with releasing an old article PA?
34. shamatuu (Posts: 151; Member since: 02 Nov 2011)
really hope it has at least 2800 or 3000 is a better fit for the QHD screen resolution. I really hope 805 not 801 because 805 has better battery consumption. Even if it has 2800 or above with the 801 battery life won't be as good as the 805 one.

Where is that LG guy?? Who proclaimed to be a worker in LG north korea... I am missing him on lg's post... I always enjoy reading his comments... such a nice fellow
37. garyII (Posts: 160; Member since: 26 Feb 2014)
the front is very very nice, for the back, well, i still prefer the G2's one...
52. LGisgood (Posts: 471; Member since: 23 Jun 2012)
G3 is way better looking than g2.
G2 looks GLOSSY CHEAP PLASTIC ON THE BACK!

"The 801 processor, however, has the same image processing prowess as the 805, so the gains with an 805 chipset will mainly be in 3D gaming"
the SD 805 not supposed to be with Adriano 420??
the SD 801 have the Adriano 330 as I know

New news is that lg is not going to use snapdrsgon but there own octacore 64 bit cpu
43. mobileguy111 (Posts: 1; Member since: 01 May 2014)
Guys what do you think should i buy xperia z2 or wait for g3?
75. redmd (Posts: 909; Member since: 26 Oct 2011)
I suggest the G3. Because once you get hold of the Z2, rumors about the Z3 will start spreading.
